"we went to this restaurant this afternoon, the facility was very outdated and while she suggested that they did not make kinder meals when we tried to share 1 adult chickening feast for our two little ones, the waitress said we could not because. the cook will not have us an empty dish to share the food and still he would divide it into smaller portions for us. after a lot of faff we ordered 5 meal times for the six of us and our two little bites from the same plate. When the waitress came over, she saw her and said, “My boss will leave when he sees it!” I thought I misunderstood and asked her to repeat, then she told me that her boss would not like two people sharing a meal and would go crazy when he saw that they eat a meal between them! I was disgusting that we spent 50 pounds there and spent more on desserts when we had been properly treated. there was another table of four already eating and we in there, no one else and a table of four wanted to come in and they were told that they could not come because they had only 1 cook! the server were nice enough, but there was no explanation why the boss would be crazy also we ordered some kokse and limonade that all came out of 2ltr bottles and were not fresh or fizzy and we asked for two fantasies that was cheap orange squash mixed with again some limonade from a 2ltr bottle. if my daughter had been on the stage where we had found somewhere decent, we would have gone out and gone somewhere where we felt welcome. my family never really had a meal where they felt so uncomfortable. I would not come back and I would not recommend them either! there are friendly places to eat that would provide the needs of the ur."

"I've been coming to Cafe Cru for about 17 years now. If we go back some years, I'd have given 5 stars and written a rave review. However, the last 3 times I've been have been poor. Very poor. Visit one was a group of about 12 for afternoon tea on the terrace. Despite plenty of notice, the wait time was excessive (45 mins for a few finger sandwiches and cakes . I found plastic wrap on a sandwich and found the food hard (no doubt pre-made and chilled? and far too little in quantity. Visit two, evening meal for 5. Again, portion size had shrunk in a big way. No exaggeration, I had two desserts and still arrived home hungry. For the prices charged, I'd expect better. Visit 3 was a group of 18 for a single course dinner. A catalogue of problems ensued. Three times, staff had to check how steaks were to be cooked. Drinks arrived incorrect. One diner was cancelled with 2 weeks notice of the booking, yet his meal was prepared and presented. Had to be taken off the bill. Two coffee cups were sent back as they had lipstick on them from previous use. Two people had fillet steak and complained they were tough (for forty quid this shouldn't be the case . Portion sizes again! So small. Again, not an exaggeration, I ordered take away when I got home. The entire party agreed portions are just not enough. A food bill of just under £450 and people going home not-full just isn't on. I know there's a cost crisis going on and all that, but you can't charge top tier prices and deliver sub-par food. Nearly thirty quid for butter beef which was 4 strips of meat and a mini shepherds pie which on a previous visit was pulled beef, this time mince meat. Simply not value for money. Sorry to say it as Grant and the team are great, but I won't be returning any time soon. A shame as this has been our go-to for many years."
