"I’m not sure where to start with this. I’ve been here a couple of times in the past so thought nothing of booking it for a Christmas meal. There seemed to be some confusion when we arrived with a member of staff saying something about putting tables together (downstairs) which was strange as we’d booked a table. Then someone came to direct us to a table upstairs. It was toasty warm when arrived and I would recommend if this is the case when you visit that you don’t do anything silly like taking your coat or jumper off as later on ALL the heating will go off. The waitress seemed to have amnesia and completely forgot one of the drinks orders. When serving another table she said “I’ll write it down” as though this was a revolutionary idea. The lady delivering the food looked like a she wasn’t quite there and she seemed to have real difficulty holding the plates and setting them down. This confused me as it seemed to be a core part of her job. The food was a mixed bag. Some of the Tapas was very good and part of our party was very happy. Unfortunately one of the vegetarian dishes was so salty that two of our party couldn’t eat it. Whilst they were offered an alternative they’d already had some Tapas so fortunately were full enough. I mention this because the table behind us had also had problems and were given some free drinks to make up for it. It was they who first complained about it being cold and that the heating had gone off. To be clear it wasn’t that the heating had simply gone off rather the sockets which they were plugged into had been turned off. There was apparently no way to turn it on again. This happened relatively early in the evening and it seemed bizarre as presumably providing some heat when the weather is cold would encourage people to stay and perhaps order more drinks. I don’t understand their business plan. The other table opted to go downstairs but we were made of sterner stuff and stayed upstairs. I liked the fact that they had a set menu as well as Tapas and you could mix and match the two however I felt it was apparent that they’re not getting the basics right. When the Tapas arrived they came very quickly to ask about the next course yet when we ordered drinks the order was completely forgotten and we had to remind the waitress that we had ordered them with her. Anywhere else you dine out seems to know the order of things so not sure why it was beyond them to be on hand but not intrusive like everywhere else manages. Overall it’s a shame as this is in a great location and I’ve not been disappointed in the past. I see lots of positive reviews but none seem to be recent so I don’t know if this place has changed hands or is staff have changed. As I say it really is a shame as it could be great, as it was on previous visits. A good reputation is easily lost so they need to understand what’s going wrong and act to improve on it."

"Friends took us here on Saturday night for the first time, they had been several times before. First time for us. We were a bit early, about 6.15pm. Not a problem, got taken upstairs to our table. Quite well laid out, very spacious. The waitress we got was fantastic, I can’t recall her name, young blonde lady with glasses, she just couldn’t of been any better, she is a credit to that restaurant. Such a polite, professional, funny, charismatic young lady. Really good menu, I had squid for starters, I was expecting a few rings as usual in most places, but you got a set of tentacles which I prefer over rings, and good thick rings with a lemon mayo. Absolutely delicious. I chose the ‘cor blimey’ pizza which was spicy melting Italian sausage and chilli. Hands down the best pizza I have had in this country, and I am quite picky when it comes to pizza. I did get to sample friends pizza, goats cheese and red onion, which was delicious, I can’t remember what the other two were. The mix of that quality of food with the excellent service was so refreshing. Really good atmosphere due to the staff. I’m sure all the other staff were equally good, I can only comment on the one we had. She also shared the story of the owners journey which was very interesting. Great experience all round really. It was also very refreshing as a person with full neck tattoos not to be stared at or treat differently by staff, as is often the case with visiting restaurants. I would like to thank the owner and the waitress for a great night . It is often very easy to leave very harsh and critical reviews, sometimes unfairly. I think it is as equally important to give praise in as much detail. I will definitely be a regular from now on here, and would highly recommend it to anyone. I couldn’t fault anything about the whole experience. Oh, nearly forgot to mention the chips. Try the stable hearth secret ingredient home made chips !!!!!!"

"We actually booked this hotel in the beginning of November, because it was my husband 's birthday. Fair enough, we got a complimentary up grade on the accommodation. However, I had sent the hotel a couple of emails asking about menu choices. I received an email probably just before the final menu was to be printed, because the copy that I had received was still in pdf. format but was told that besides the Valentines menu, the normal full ala carte menu would be available too. It was that menu that I was looking forward too! We checked into the hotel approximately 6pm, my husband unpacked the car then went down stairs to mention to the restaurant that there would infact just be the two of us dining later. The gentlemen that appeared to be in charge pointed out to me that it was in fact just the Valentines menu that was available, I then mentioned that I was under the impression that the ala carte menu was available to. He then replied NO.... it 's just that one Needless to say I was disappointed. By this time we felt it was too late in the day to do or go anywhere else, therefore we decided to still eat in the restaurant. We came downstairs about 7-30ish to have a drink at the bar with only two tables in the restaurant having dinner it appeared to be really really quite that night. We were barely at the bar for 5 minutes when the young girl had asked us if we would like to be seated at our table. We felt obliged to say yes. We sat down and pointed out to her that we had already decided what we would like. I went to the toilet and when I returned, I was lost for words because the starters were already on the table. We had both opted for the game terrine with toasted brioche, only two pieces of brioche with no butter. My wife went to look for the supervisor person to ask for some butter, when he returned with the butter I then asked for some more brioche, he returned seconds later with a basket of bread rolls that had been put in the microwave and told me there was no"

"Went into Sainsbury’s cafe and simply asked for a ham and cheese toastie, I had not been disruptive or rude in anyway, however I was greeted with a very rude, blunt and abrupt attitude from the member of staff serving me. She had a tone in her voice and had quite a lot of attitude even though she barely said anything. The reason she barely said anything is because she was very short and blunt with me, giving me one word answers or not an answer at all. When I went to pay she shoved the card machine across the counter and threw the table number card down onto the counter with attitude. She did not say a single word after this she simply walked away and did not advise me to pick any table I wanted or too take a seat. The service was then very slow as it took 10 minutes simply to toast a pre-made ham and cheese toastie. Then when I did receive the food she proceeded to strut over to my table and throw the plate down onto the opposite side of the table from me, meaning I had to get up and reach over to get my food, even though this takes very little effort it is still bad customer service (especially at £3.85 for a simple ham and cheese toastie that was served luke warm). She also did not inform me as to where any condiments were for my meal. Once she had abruptly ‘placed’ my food on the table she strutted off before I even had the opportunity to say thank you, despite this I still said thank you but her back was turned and she was walking away, and as you can probably guess I got no response. It was a very bad experience and aswell as the poor customer service the toastie wasn’t even that nice."
