White Heather - Carte

I had an absolutely wonderful meal today, January 31st. The staff were excellent, especially the man at the bar. Thank you so much for all your help in getting my mom into the car. We wouldn't have been able to manage without borrowing the wheelchair.

My partner and I went for Sunday lunch at the White Heather on 17/10/21. Rubbish service, left over food and drinks on the tables, the meal was the worst I have ever had and the drinks are a rip off. I have since heard from other people today that they thought it was rubbish. I recommend never to waste your money there!

We visited as a family of five and enjoyed absolutely stunning roast dinners, served in generous portions with plenty of fresh ingredients. I really appreciate that they serve traditional British cuisine in a classic manner, complete with a variety of side vegetables. We enjoyed a wonderful dining experience with delicious food that was cooked and served impeccably. Our group of 28 was gathered to celebrate a club presentation event. Most of us opted for the roast of the day, which featured a delightful duo of beef and turkey. The lunch menu offered a variety of options for an affordable two-course meal, complete with plenty of flavorful vegetables and a selection of desserts from a trolley overflowing with tempting treats. The staff took great care of us, seating us comfortably in the smaller dining room and allowing us to linger long after our meal was finished.

We were in Cumbria for my birthday and booked the White Heather for Sunday lunch. We used to go for Sunday lunch when I lived in Cumbria 15 years ago! It didn’t disappoint!! The meat was perfect. We had the turkey, ham and lamb and my grandson had a children’s meal. The waitress brought an empty plate for my granddaughter, who is 2 years old and she had the vegetables and meat from our plates. The pudding trolley is well worth ensuring that you don’t fill up on starters or mains! I’m following the Keto way of eating and I had more than enough roast lamb and I had a lovely trio of cheeses for my pudding!

I visited here yesterday with a coach group. We were met on arrival and shown to the restaurant. The restaurant was once the officers mess of RAF Kirkbride and has interesting views across the airfield. We had various choices of main courses which were served by very friendly staff. The food was very good and served on hot plates, something which many places omit. Then came the desert trolley, oh my goodness the selection was fantastic. I had the trifle which was absolutely gorgeous. All the staff were very friendly and so attentive to all our needs. Been looking forward to a meal here as we hadn’t been since before lock down. It was disappointing. I had the turkey which was so very overcooked it was like straw. I just could not chew it. Instead of a slice of turkey I just had a mound of little bits which looked like they had been scraped off the turkey platter. Peas were on my plate. I hate peas with a passion and did not get the choice whether to have them or not. The ‘one’ roast potato…well you could not call it a roast because it was soggy and unappetising. We have always had fantastic meals here but I believe Malcolm has sold up which we were not aware of when we visited this time and unfortunately we were left very disappointed on this visit. We were left standing at the bar the gentleman was doing drinks and didn’t even say he would be with us shortly but just ignored us !! We got the attention of a waitress walking past who checked our booking and took us to our table … We were left waiting waiting .. again we had to stop a waitress going passed and ask if we could order this was half an hour after we sat down … When the meal came it was certainly not up to its usual standard it was Luke warm at best the restaurant was not busy at all usual...

Went fir Sunday lunch Yorkshire pudding the one small roast potato were sitting in water on the plate both were soft squidgy with barely cooked soggy bottom on the Yorkie roast potato was very soft outside and watery inside !! Hard lumpy dry mash potato but the carrot cabbage were nice meat had lots of fat on it which was not to my taste!! Staff totally uninterested when we brought the matter to their attention .. usually this is a very popular place but it was barely half full with children running riot through the restaurant which did not make a pleasant atmosphere all in all we were very disappointed and will not be back in a hurry there are other local eateries in the area which do a won...
