Walrus Canteen Lounge

Went to Walrus... was pretty impressed. A nice relaxed vibe, with great tunes! Music was banging! Would defo go here again.

The food and prices are amazing -specially on a Sunday. Always have a good night in here and there is a walrus head on the wall -he's cool.

I came with my boyfriend and our friend and Riz served us. She was a delight throughout, chatted to us and also obliged in giving us her Instagram because she had fantastic hair that we wanted to see more of. Give her a raise. Voir le carte

Love a night out in the Northern Quarter, and Walrus would be my top place of choice. It's got a nice chilled vibe with options of different music upstairs and downstairs, plus seating for when your legs are wobbly from all the dancing. The staff are very friendly and they do some good cocktails. I was also here last year during the day for food with friends and enjoyed it.

Went here recently with my friend for a cheap Sunday meal. With the 50% off we thought it'd be naff, unfortunately it was late on and they had run out of beef burgers and pizza so the options were limited. I opted for an halloumi burger and my friend the chicken burger which we had half each and we shared some pizza fries. Have to say it was great and the long haired dude that served us was superb. I posted on Instagram regarding lack of options and the manager replied and offered for us to go and try a pizza which is excellent customer service. Well done guys a nice touch which we will look forward too. Overall a good experience. 7/ 10

I waited at the bar for 5 minutes to take my order without any acknowledgment from the 3 staff behind the bar. The barstaff rolled her eyes at me when I said I didn't know what table number I was. We ordered a starter and 2 mains. We waited over 30 minutes for our food which all came together. The flat bread with roasted garlic oil was awful. My burger patty was cold and dry and the pizza was just thrown together. The staff didn't apologise for the late meal (i could understand if they were busy but at this point we were the only people in there who had ordered meals) or come up to us once to see if we were enjoying our meals. Went to eat on a Sunday, and it was deafeningly loud you can 't even hear eachother speak at 6pm. Explained to the bar girl who just shoulder shrugged it off. We watched a further 2 couples all move from the bar to a quiet corner because it was so loud. Food was really cold, dry and bland, wouldn 't recommend at all, one staff member did kindly apologise and had it remade, but end to end from ordering to getting second meal was 1hr. Not one to really write a negative comment and usually wouldn 't but the service of the uninterested unapologetic female staff member was something that you just can 't do and really needs to be worked on. We wandered around our Airbnb reading menus after just arriving into Manchester. We were hungry and thirsty and new to the country/money/etc. We finally settled on Walrus and had a pretty good experience. The place was clean and tastefully decorated in a pinky-bronze modern style. The music was trance or modern hypnotic. (I am old and out of touch with modern speech. The bartender/server was friendly and attentive. He recommended the happy hour beer special: two for five pounds, and my husband started ordering two at a time. Came here before a gig excited to check it out... ordered the pulled pork burger on the menu, only to be told about 30 minutes later that they had no pork. Rather than refund me after choosing something cheaper I was asked to choose 2 things of the same price. When my chicken burger finally came, it didn’t even have the ranch dressing in it advertised in the menu. Meatballs incredibly mediocre and unseasoned. My boyfriend had a ‘spicy pork and chorizo meatball’ pizza.... which was just bland meatballs on a fairly tasteless pizza.
