"Serious food and wine in relaxed surroundings. Vivat Bacchus is a restaurant/.wine bar that takes food and wine very seriously, and presents it in a relaxed (and often buzzy) atmosphere. There's a number of different rooms for different purposes (including private rooms) so it's worth having a chat to the staff if you have something special in mind. I've visited a few times the food is varied, reliably good and well-presented, whether you go for the deli tapas type options or the more upmarket options from the kitchen. Service is friendly and well-informed, but can feel sparse in the bar at busy times. They have wines that you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else (according to...read more"

Since my first visit to Vivat Bacchus in December last year, I have been to the London Bridge branch several more times for catch up with friends over cheese and wine...

Let down by the atmosphere. The food's pretty good the crocodile spring rolls were interesting but the downstairs restaurant is absolutely lifeless unless it's packed, and when that happens the service staff disappear. wine was, as you'd expect, good but pricey.

this week we were invited to eat by the beautiful people in vivat bacchus. I had heard of vivat bacchus, of course his South African origin and rest for cheese and wee before him. When they read my contributions, they will know that I am the cheese and wine queen of the boozy bunch, known for my extensive firm, so I was quite excited to visit.

Sorry, Vivat Baccus. Your wine may be great, but your efforts with the burger are not from the DIY approach to building the burger, to the cooking of the beef, and the pungent garlic aoili the chefs need to go back to basics and make that rarebreed beef sing and have confidence in constructing the burger rather than leaving the toppings on the plate.

I have always connected vivat bacchus with customer entertainment. it seemed like the kind of place to take suits, attorneys types, or any carnivorous person for a little visit card earning. When I got a invite to try her Farringdon branch, I called b for the microphone key. with roots from South Africa is known vivat bacchus for their grilled meats, wee and cheese.

brilliant. whether it is a typical fat boy city lunch or just a fast plate, this place rocks. great variety and quality from the kitchen, some left field dishes from South Africa and lunch cake to die for! an excellent wine card and a good social scene also with regular, excellent value, wine tasting. ceri the owner is a top bloke, very welcoming and fun. go safely to the restaurant.

Cheese with red wine was the order of the day so I'd booked us a table at Vivat Bacchus a bustling South African-owned restaurant in Farringdon. Although it serves a great selection of main meals (apparently the pies are amazing) it's the cheese boards, platters and huge range of wines and champagnes that creates the real winning formula. We decided upon the French cheese board consisting of Fourme d'Ambert, honey-drizzled Comte, Coulommiers and Reblochon served with biscuits, delicious chutneys, fruit and nuts. To accompany, we ordered the French and South African platters which provided us with Bayonne ham, saucisson sec, pork rillettes, cornichons, sourdough, biltong, droewors...read more
