I went to umezushi for my birthday meal with my closest friends. It definitely lived up to all of my expectations! Such a small cosy place with truly phenomenal food, both in variety and in quality. We feasted on miso, handrolls, sashimi, sushi and desert... and I was blown away with every aspect. The staff were warm and knowledgeable which always helps. Definitely one to try for any sushi aficionados!

beautiful blockhouse of a restaurant among the arches near the MEN/Victoria station. we are not expert on Japanese seafood so asked the excellent friendly server to recommend some dishes. great sashimi and sushi and an excellent thun-fish and kichererbsenkur. washed off with a large bottle of Italian rose and a small bottleneck. all for quid. highly recommended. in a city where Spanish and Italian restaurants tend to dominate this a great alternative. I recently got the sushi kit from the Umezushi store and it was really fabulous and really good quality! the fish was fresh and delicious. I was concerned about how the fish wanted to be sent to me, but the way it was packed ensured that the fish arrived in perfect condition. I was really impressed with that. also the amount of fish was more than enough to feed people, I would say that it could even feed people (we were really fighting at the end haha). I enjoyed making the sushi with my friends after the videos, although the product result was not the best, it still tasted super!

I would give this restaurant a 4.5 out of 5 if Google allowed half points, so based on their system it is a 5. Regardless, the food was excellent. We dined here for a joint birthday party and it was some of the best sushi we've ever had. As sushi enthusiasts, we ordered from the a la carte menu and enjoyed the luxury sushi plate along with some other dishes, including the recommended salmon head which was a delightful surprise. The standout sushi items for me were the Smoked Eel (unagi) and the Prawn. Even the accompanying sides like the fresh ginger and vegetables were impressive. The only reason for the slight deduction is that I believe the service and ambiance could be improved to match...

The culinary experience here with my other half was exceptional in Umezushi. If you should come in the evening, a booking of a table would be recommended. Even if we have booked a table for 3 people online on the rigid booking system, we informed the staff on arrival that a person could not come and they said it was no problem. Service was professional, straight and informative. Although every table had customers; it was worth waiting because we knew our food was carefully prepared. Each piece of fish or seafood served was fresh and amazingly tasteful, no 'off' smell. The Otoro (Fatty part of Tuna) Nigiri just melts in our mouth and what a joy it was and the Tiger Prawn Uramaki.
