"The pub and restaurant are nicely decorated, the staff attentive and welcoming however we came for a family meal and the food was overpriced and distinctly average at best. For example my starter was described as..... Pan fried King Prawns, white wine, garlic and chilli butter and crusty bread .....what I actually got was 4 king prawns in a sweet chilli dipping sauce straight out of a bottle! Despite ordering a Sirloin Steak rare I 'm 99% certain I was served a Rib Eye steak .....the shape was wrong for a sirloin steak and the marbling throughout the meat was reminiscent of Rib eye....plus it was overcooked. £8 for my king prawn starter and £29 for a steak is at the higher end for pub food in my opinion ....I didn 't think the quality was reflected in the price.....looking back I was disappointed. My wife had Sea Bass ...which again was overcooked. I 'm actually surprised as the Wheatsheaf is now under the same ownership as the Woolpack at Islip our usual restaurant of choice) and the food there is exceptional in comparison. Maybe we were just unlucky last night and had a poor meal, however I 'm not risking a repeat visit."

Looked for a Sunday lunch on way back home from Wales along the A14 road and found this pub on tripadvisor. They fitted us in and served up a lovely Roast beef for my wife and I and a delicious side of cauliflower cheese. Lovely little pub and great service from the team behind the bar. Highly recommended if you’re in the area Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A hidden gem! Tucked away in the quiet village of Titchmarsh but with easy access from A14 A605, this lovely pub restaurant is well worth a visit. We’ve been hoping to visit for a while and finally made it last weekend for a family meet up for our grandson’s birthday. We were really well looked after by Gemma and her team. The meals were delicious. The allergens options and advice is top notch. Thank you for everything you did to make us feel so welcome. We will return!

"Richard and I, en route from Cambridge to Shropshire, chanced upon this splendid cafe in Kettering, easily accessible from the A14. The cafe occupies a cosy space with a breakfast bar by the window, offering a lovely view of the local red-brick architecture, and a fine place from which to watch the colourful characters of Kettering passing by. Unlike some cafes, there was no 'greasy spoon ' smell, which was a boon. Instead a delightful and appetite-arousing aroma of freshly cooked bacon and eggs. Richard opted for the small breakfast, and had no trouble in swapping out his eggs and tomato for black pudding and mushrooms at no extra cost. I ordered the much-vaunted breakfast baguette. The food was cooked freshly and served quickly. Richard was impressed by the appearance of his plate, and more so by the delicious food which he consumed with gusto. Richard said the bacon was well cooked, the mushrooms were good, not too greasy, generally everything was well cooked, the only thing that could have been better was the sausage, which was fine but obviously a 'standard quality ' sausage . My breakfast baguette was fantastic, the crispy bread was marvellous and the generous filling was hot and tasty, and not at all greasy. All this, plus two steaming cups of flavoursome tea for the bargain price of £9.90. We both took the opportunity to use the facilities and we 're impressed with their cleanliness and the provision of Radox soap. On the whole a great find. We will certainly drop in again if we pass by on another adventure."
