"Where do I start....I was blown away by the four course vegan plant based menu priced at £12 the catering students at Blackburn College, created, cooked and served at Scholars. I and my husband went for lunch and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations, the food was amazing, beautifully presented, cooked, seasoned and was an absolute delight to eat. This is accomplished, confident cooking and yet the chefs are only aged 16 to 19 and their talents put to shame many of the places I have dined, where the vegan food has been a token gesture, an after thought of just putting any old rubbish on the plate. Scholars vegan food was well thought out, creative, exciting and cooked with passion. These are our chefs of the future, how lucky are we. I had a chat with student chefs Imogen and Gem (who made our mushroom dish dessert respectively) who were so enthusiastic about their cooking. The front of house team were equally as good, serving the dishes and making sure we had drinks etc and checking if we liked the food. Credit is due to their mentor Head Chef Dave and Restaurant Manager Karen for introducing a vegan plant based menu. I cannot wait to go back."

"we really enjoyed our visit here today for the afternoon, eating was amazing. very good value for money. we ordered a gluten-free afternoon tea and our joy came with a delicious sandwich selection, cakes, cookies, cupcakes. some places we were and asked for gluten-free, there is never much choice. the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. we will definitely return. a really great place to eat and child-friendly! highly recommended"

"We always get takeaway from here as it’s our fave Indian round here. We went to eat in and couldn’t believe the price difference, was so much more expensive to eat in. I understand you pay for service but it was about an extra tenner. We went on a Tuesday and was disappointed they aren’t doing the 50% scheme. Food was amazing as always, just too expensive so we wouldn’t eat in again."

"Upon our arrival, we were seated in the bar area and promptly given menus and offered drinks. Our order, set menu A, was taken after a short wait. We were then escorted to our table and served poppadoms with a chutney tray within 5 minutes, which was a nice touch. The starters included onion bhajis, sheesh kebab, and a unique garlic chicken soup that was surprisingly tasty. For our main course, we enjoyed chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, pilau rice, and garlic naan, all of which were delicious and filling - definitely enough for two people! As part of the set menu, we were supposed to receive a coffee liqueur each, but it was not offered initially. Although there was a minor issue with the bill, it was quickly resolved (the waiter was new and not familiar with the set menu). However, when we requested the coffees, we were charged for them. Despite the small oversight, it was only a minimal amount so we decided to pay it without further ado. We would consider returning to this restaurant, but as always, it is important to double-check your bill before paying."

"Part of our “walking” route I had driven past here previously and thought worth popping in some time despite knowing nothing about it. Really pleasantly surprised by the modern fresh finish and decent choice of drinks. We also (having burnt barely 1000 calories between 3 of us needed a snack before our Thai feast back home. So we shared prawn toast (bit disappointing , ham and cheese croquettes (popular , honey and mustard chipolatas (nice and fries. Plenty of staff and all fine enough. Will come back for drinks and probably a meal (might not walk! ."
