Had a lovely meal here last night, I had the chicken supreme and my husband had the lamb cutlets, both dishes were amazing! Staff are very friendly and made us feel really welcome going out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable evening, it was our first time visiting Herne Bay and we will definitely be coming back to The Ship!

We had lunch at The Ship on Christmas Eve and it was a wonderful experience! The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful they were fantastic despite the pub being so busy! The food was excellent as always and a terrific selection of drinks including a wide choice of wines and real ales. The Ship is rapidly becoming one of the best places to eat in Herne Bay.

Booked a table for 5 to have a catch up with some friends before Christmas. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our table. From start to finish all the staff were attentive polite and making sure we had all we need. We had a 3-course meal and drinks; all of the food was excellent and timing between courses was spot on. There was enough choice on both meals and drinks. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience and would recommend the Ship to anyone of any age, and will return.

Hi all, just returned from Xmas lunch at the ship, WOW what a day, the welcome was warm and friendly the food was superb , and so much of it! All 4 courses were fantastic and I repeat, so much of everything, the staff, every one of them, from nickie, Imogen, Chloe, Adele, Emma, Tony, plus all the staff behind the scenes who we didn’t see could not have done more, perfect day in a perfect environment, Alan and Michelle please thank everyone, you should be very proud of your team, absolute top job by everyone if I could have given more than 5 stars I would have)

We travelled from Cambridgeshire to see some friends who live in Herne Bay. There were six of us in total. One ordered steak,one chicken supreme, one hunters chicken, one fish goujons and two beef stew. After a long wait the food came. Unfortunately all of the dishes arrived luke warm. The stews were returned to be warmed up microwaved and when they arrived back at the table they resembled dog food. No-one was happy with their food. The waitress was very apologetic and said we could have desserts on the house as an apology. Only 2 people took up the offer. 10% was deducted from the final bill as a goodwill gesture but it wasn’t enough to placate us. We won’t be back!

New Years Day we got together with friends for a dog walk along the seafront. We had coffee on the pier and on the way back to the car, decided to call into The Ship for a quick snifter. We were greeted with a warm and friendly manager and it was beautifully decorated for the festive season. We took a seat near the door as we had the woofer. Apart from not having a ginger wine (which not many pubs do have) we had such a nice time in a convivial atmosphere that we decided to stay and have a roast dinner! Wanted a nice lunch with our Family over Christmas. Newly taken over by Shepherd Neame, and appreciate good things may be going to happen was very disappointed. The Ship was nicely decorated, with plenty of Staff for the number of Customers. Sadly the menu let the Restaurant down, it is the same as it has been for the last few months. The wine list was poor, not even as good as it was in the Summer. We have visited twice in that time and were very much looking forward to something new and different. I had a delightful lunch at The Ship with my brother and his partner, who had driven down from Pembury. The waitress informed us of a delay in food due to a staff member calling in sick, but managed our expectations well. We enjoyed drinks, ordered our meals, and had a relaxing time chatting while waiting for our food, which didn't take too long. The food was definitely worth the wait - everything was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. We booked a table for 6 people, we are local and had 4 friends visiting from Cambridgeshire and thought The Ship would be ideal. How wrong were we. The background music was so loud we could not hear the waitress or our friends. We waiting a long time to order and for food to come out. Two friends ordered stew, when it came out, it looked like it had been sitting in the bowls for days, dry, hard and tough, and top it all it was cold. We sent it back after stating the issue and it arrive back micro waved so much it was brittle. unable to eat and both were left uneaten, the other meals on the table were all served luke warm.
