"Looked very nice on entry, if unexpectly quite for a Thursday night in December. I ordered the mac and cheese with a side of skinny fries. When the food came the mac and cheese had bacon on it, seemed an honest mistake by the server who apologised when I said I didn 't order bacon, I 'm vegetarian he took it and said he would get a new one. I was surprised and a bit suspecious when it came back less than 5 min later but it looked ok, that was until I put some in my mouth and it tasted smoked. On further inspection I found a small piece of bacon down the inside of the bowl. I called the server back and asked if the chef had just taken the bacon off and the reply was a sheepish yes. He apologised again and offered to get me anouther, however I refused, if they think just taking the big bits of bacon off makes it vegetarian I can 't trust the practices going on in the kitchen. A short while later he came back and apologised again, saying that I wouldn 't be charged for anything, he also took the blame himself as he didn 't tell the chef I was vegetarian and hadn 't said anything when they just took the bacon off. I appreciated the apology, but it doesn 't make it right and made that point clear to him. I 'm vegetarian by choice, but what if it had been an allergie to something or I had been Muslim or Jewish. I 'm exceptionally disappointed that a place advertising itself as vegetarian, vegan, gluten friendly place can get something so basic, so wrong. It 's put me off going back and I certainly wouldn 't recommend anyone with any kind of dietary requirement going there as you may get more on your plate than you bargained for."

Lovely place to eat but it was sadly their last day of trading.

We went for a pre theatre meal and the service started v well but when the Press became full about an hour later , they really struggled to cope and service became too slow.

The fries were delicious! However, it appeared that certain tables received table service while we did not, and I found myself constantly having to go up to the bar to place our orders.

Food was nice, chicken skewers had a lovely flavour and were cooked well. My friends chilli and rice was lovely! Very quiet during our visit with only a handful of tables occupied. Bar staff friendly and attentive. Would return in future.

We had a wonderful lunch with our family at this restaurant. The service was fast and friendly, the food was delicious, and there was a great variety of drinks available. I would definitely recommend this place. It is also conveniently located for visits to the nearby deco.

I have visited this restaurant a few times now and have really enjoyed the food and drinks. My only complaint is that the service can be slow during busy times, although the staff are very kind and polite. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. I will definitely be returning.

Booked originally for four, rang an hour before could it be changed to five, no problem. Service was a little slow but they had said they were going to be busy so could be a wait when I booked. Food delicious with more than enough of it. Medium rare beef melted in my mouth and my guests said the cauliflower cheese was 'to die for ' though I thought that was a little extreme as they won 't be around then to come again.

Very disappointing, So I visited last year with my family, such a lovely experience, unfortunately no more! Rude Staff, Dirty, Poorly Managed and RAT INFESTED!!! I found out after my visit that its no longer family run and its a managed pub now. I was sitting in the garden and I must have counted large rats one came right up to my feet then went to the kitchen door.. Absolutely freaked me out! I told staff but they weren't bothered so we left immediately.. Revolting

The food was lovely. But it was very busy and you didn’t have enough staff on. They did the best they could and were rushing to serve everyone as quick as they could. Took 30 mins for our drinks to come and extras on my mums meal were missing. Were so busy my mum said don’t worry but take it off the bill which they did. Should have been more staff for amount of bookings. Was prob busier than normal due to performance at Deco. But should have known from bookings more staff were needed.

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
