The Village Bakery - Carte

It's okay nothing special. Cakes a bit boring. Toilets need a refurbish tap coming off sink.

I only had a couple of cups of tea and a fabulous brownie. Fantastic place with lovely staff. Only too willing to help me out. Many thanks.

Situate 10 miles from Penrith at the foot of Hartside popular with locals and visitors. Good selection of hit food and snacks with friendly staff. Voir le carte

We visited twice on our stay in Melmerby the first we just had coffee and on the second we had lunch which we could not fault, the liver pate was excellent.

We visited Melmerby bakery for coffee and cake. It's a great cafe with friendly service and nice decor, lots of seating inside and out. We had the Easter egg scotch egg and a caramel and chocolate tart, both very nice. It was quite busy for a Monday, will definitely be back.

It is many years since we visited this cafe and we were delighted that the standards had been maintained. The coffee was strong and delicious. The morning rolls were reasonably priced came with a choice of fillings. The eggs were perfectly poached and the bacon and Cumberland sausage were of good quality. Drove out to Melmerby specifically to give this place a try but it really wasn’t worth the effort. Has the feel of a mid-market garden centre catering for OAPs- all plastic tables, laminated menus and overpriced household gifts. Food was average, drinks ok, service a bit meh, particularly from the bearded guy with limited communication skills. First impressions count and based on this one, I wouldn’t hurry back.

The Full English breakfast was the best that we had eaten. We travel quite a lot and good,cooked to perfection , tasty food not laden with salty bacon or peppery sausage, is hard to find. Everything on our plate was just right and beleive me we cleaned the plate.The staff we lovely and attentive. Had a takeaway Cherry and Almond Scone from their bakery for later, with jam and cream.....didn't want to share it! We will be going back as soon as we can. Top notch

We chose this by a random Google search. Talk about a gem in disguise from the little shop, to the lush chocolates and into the cafe. The food was well made, well presented and reasonably priced. I had the fish goujon sarnie, my friend had the homemade quiche both were full of flavour. There is even a selection off gluten free and vegan cakes, now these had to be tried The best part about this little gem was the atmosphere the staff created from the moment you walked in. You were made to feel welcome and at home, well worth the drive. We will definitely be there again Voir le carte
