"I had high expectations for our celebratory meal booked for Tuesday, but unfortunately, I was very mistaken. We arrived via taxi to a lobby with minimal signage, only a Stokes Coffee swing sign and a small sign declaring "Old Palace" outside. After making our way inside, we were directed to a lounge area and told someone would be with us shortly. However, the lounge was not as inviting as it could have been, as there were remnants of someone's afternoon tea still on the table. Eventually, a waiter arrived to take our drink order. We requested a kir, but the waiter seemed confused, so we settled for a glass of dry white wine. I noticed that there were two white wines offered by the glass, but we were not asked for our preference. Our reservation was for 19:00, and although we arrived a bit early, at 19:15 we were finally asked to go up to the restaurant. It would have been nice if we had been given menus while we were waiting in the lounge, and it would have been even better if the waiter had offered to bring our drinks upstairs for us. Once in the restaurant, we were shown to an empty room and told to choose any table for two, which was not the warmest welcome. When we sat down, we were given the menus, but unfortunately, they were different. Mine had abbreviations under each dish with no explanation, so it was clear that I had received the wrong menu. Our starters were mediocre, with the duck being very cold and the risotto being too strong with lemon and garlic, lacking the creaminess one would expect. The main courses, although good, were presented on black plates, which made it difficult to appreciate the presentation. The dessert looked nice, but it did not taste as rich in chocolate as it was supposed to. Overall, the evening was very disappointing, especially since we were the only guests in the restaurant."

Absolutely incredible place to stay. Spent 2 nights in the best room I've ever seen! Very friendly and helpful reception.

What can i say other than what a fantastic hotel to stay in. The hotel was amazing, the breakfast was delicious and the staff and communication was a pleasure. No hesitation in going back again Fantastic

The food and service at this restaurant were nearly excellent, just falling short of reaching perfection. The atmosphere was a bit too formal and quiet for my taste. I would recommend adding some subtle background music to enhance the dining experience.

The dinning room is very plain and needs making brighter some flowers or plants and may be decorating. There needs to be a bar where you can have a drink before your meal. It is difficult to find so needs some signs at the moment the only signs say Bishops Palace and they are small and old. Voir le carte

The food at this restaurant is excellent, but the décor and atmosphere of the room were lackluster. My wife had a fantastic view overlooking Lincoln, while I had to settle for unimpressive paneling. The staff were attentive, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. I just wish the dining room had a more polished and luxurious feel.

We attended The Faulty Towers we evening as a celebration for my husbands birthday. It was excellent and exceeded all our expectations. I did wonder whether the food would suffer with all that was going on but it was top notch, hot, well served and of excellent quality. We are still laughing and talking about the fun and highly entertaining evening that we had. Well done to all involved for making it such a memorable evening.

Really enjoyed my stay in Lincolnshire, and The Old Palace really complimented it. Lovely vibe and a minutes walk away from the town and Cathedral. Gotta love that Steep hill. Our room was very peaceful and had an amazing view. And compliments to the friendly and helpful staff for making our weekend getaway that much more welcoming. Definitely recommended. Hopefully will return to Lincoln again in the near future, and would love to stay in The Old Palace again. Voir le carte

We stayed one night on a recent visit to Lincoln and was so impressed with this B&B! Its perfectly located on Steep Hill but with a private gated car park and set back from the main strip so wonderfully quiet. It is a beautiful building with some amazing original features such as the stained glass and vaulted windows yet the rooms have all the mod cons. I have seen comments about it being cold but if anything we found the rooms to be toasty warm and actually had to open the windows this was in windy March! Breakfast was also amazing, lots of choice and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Above all the staff were so lovely and could not be more welcoming. We loved our visit and would def stay...

The location and beautiful building are great and the car park is a work in progress but having parking right outside in the Bailgate area is a definite bonus. Go up hill for some nice relaxing pubs and restaurants or downhill for more of the same but busier and louder. The breakfast provided is varied with the full English using noticeably quality ingredients and just the right amount. We only found our disappointment with the room. If you want one of the rooms with the stained glass windows or a view, make sure when you book that your allocated one. The room we were in had a very small window which looked out onto the gulley between two pitch roofs so our view was roof tiles. We were also...

"when we arrived, there was a 15 min waiting for a table for 4 people. that in my head was a good thing, and what can I say, but I was right. I go out for dinner and give a 5-star rating without being a bit generous, but in this case I don't have to be generous. this is really a 5-star evaluation site. the price is reasonable and this is reflected in the size of the drank. large but not too large and very fillable. the selection was good overall for lunch and tea and coffee selection was then expected to be bigger. simply note that no alcohol is served here, but is not needed, as the environment is excellent and the ethos of the caffe supports. eating was great and the selection of meat and vegan food was good. the face of the children on the sight of the child afternoon was one of the excitement, especially when you see the size of the cake. the burgerpatties were thin, but wide, homemade, like all food, cooked in a juicy juicy condition. the nuggets were diceed chicken pieces so quality from the beginning, batter was slightly spiced and cooked for perfection. not greasy or soggy or too much for the meat. best nuggets I've ever had. if they like cake and coffee, this is also the place for them with the sizes of the cake portions they will take a few home, and it is worth it. as they can say, we really enjoyed eating and put in a place that is modern with a classic touch that I felt relaxed and that eating fits the venue."
