"We decided to have lunch here after visiting the Museum. (A friend had already recommended The Mousehole to me previously. As we walked in we were welcomed by a friendly face at the counter We found a table and looked through the menu after deciding what we would like I gave our order to the pleasant young lady who served us our order was taken and within minutes it arrived at our table. There was a very varied selection of food and drink on offer. I had the Jacket potato with tuna mayo this came with a mixed salad. My sister had the soup followed by a cheese and ham toastie. The children decided to go for the mini mousehole lunch this consisted of a sandwich, some grapes and a drink. We finished our meal with a generous portion of caramel apple pie which was delicious! The children had sultana scones which had been freshly baked. I had a cup of tea and my sister went for the hot chocolate. The meal was very satisfactory and the whole experience was a very pleasant one The cafe is very cosy and a very unusual place to have lunch it was nice to see the food being prepared in front of us too. All in all at a very reasonable price and a nice place to spend our lunchtime! Would highly recommend. We will be back."

Check opening times, can be busy as small area but also a small room for special occasion. Friendly service.

I have never had a Ploughmans Lunch with Grated Cheese Before It was very poor value I suggest that the Management look at the Ploughmans at Bampton Garden Center which only cost 40P more

This unusual cafe is a delight to visit. Great service and yummy soup. I can't wait to go there again. Well done Abingdon; you've done it again. Afterwards, up the steps to a super view over the area.Readright

We visited here for the first time in ages. It is a little gem, it's hidden away under Abingdon museum and well worth finding. Abingdon has so many cafes but this one has its own personality. The prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. The mouse hole is well worth a visit.

Arrived in Oxford for a car service and needed something to do so drove to Abingdon and found this lovely little restaurant in the basement of the Guildhall in the market place. A warm welcome from the friendly staff. A basic but varied menu much of which is made by the staff. Coffee, teas, light bites and light lunches all good. They were baking fresh scones while we were there. Very clean cafe set in the old caverns, great, well worth a visit.

We discovered the cafe on a walk around the town. You can enter via stairs from both sides of the museum building or use the lift (suitable for disabled customers). It is a cosy little cafe with original stone walls and tables to seat about a dozen people. We only had tea and cake, but the menu was good. The cakes were fresh and home made and the tea plentiful. The staff were lovely and one of them brought our order up when we chose to sit outside and enjoy the sun. There were special events advertised at the cafe and we loved it.

My daughter and I booked afternoon tea here last Sunday and it's the best place for afternoon tea so far that we have visited. I emailed an enquiry and had very prompt replies. When we arrived on Sunday our table was laid out beautifully and fresh sandwiches were brought immediately with small bowl of crisps and large pot of tea. Once we had finished the sandwiches then they brought the cakes and lots of them and scones were warm. Had such a lovely experience we will re-visit soon. Do not visit Abingdon without calling in to this beautiful tea shop.

Always keen to support an inde overthe usual chains I found this lovely little bolthole right in the historic centre of Abingdon. So much potential. It's so cute. But despite the lovely person serving and the reasonable coffee and cake, the salad I was given was probably worse than my mothers from the 1970s. Lettuce, tasteless tomato, cucumber and Tuna tipped on top. Masses of it but it was so dull and tasteless. And at £6.95 madly expensive. Hopefully management will read this and think a bit more about what you can also put in a main course salad! I think the young worker there is delightful but needsSome help!

We have recently moved to the area so we're on the hunt for a light lunch somewhere on our first visit to town. We looked at a few options as there are lots of cafes in Abingdon but eventually decided on this little cafe. It's no good for wheel chair users or pushchairs if they can't be carried as the cafe is below ground with steps at the entrance, inside the walls make you feel a little like you're in a cave but it's not a bad experience. The cafe has been decorated well, is light and welcoming; the staff are very friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have.We were here for a light lunch as such my wife had the ploughmans lunch which I wasn't too impressed with from its looks b...
