"Sitting just on the outskirts of the lovely village of Buckden, the Marina has so much potential but sadly it 's just awful. Taking part in a local club quiz we endured the Marina yet again. As soon as I walked in the 'restaurant/club ' I noticed wet tissues on the floor. Good start. Next stop, the bar. No draught beers or lagers. No bottled beer only lager and cider. Dinner, pre-arranged by the local club so price limited, was chilli and jacket potatoes with salad. While it was ok half way through serving the salad run out. Bagged salad was tipped straight into the serving bowl. While some bagged salad state 'no need to wash ' it has been advised recently that all bagged salads should be washed before eating. Then they run out of wine. The quiz was pre booked so drink supplies should have been plentiful. Drink was not included in the price of the evening event. Then the ladies toilets. Wet toilet paper on the floor of the cubicles. Broken locks. Filthy mirror. Wet floor. Broken bin. The whole place is very tired, badly managed and a complete disaster. An advert on the entrance door promotes their 'tea for two ' for £25. I think you would have to pay me £25 to go and try it. Abysmal."

Often used to visit as a friend lived on the marina. Great place to chillout and have a beer and maybe a bite to eat. If you get a nice day even better.

Food takes a long time to be served and is almost Weatherspoon-y. Nice place to go for a coffee and sit by the water. I wouldn't recommend you make a special visit to eat. It's a shame as it has so much potential to be a popular venue.

Hadn't been here before, but were passing when I took my mum out for a drive so popped in for a drink. Cheerful pleasant service. Sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed the beautiful view. Would definitely return and maybe for lunch or afternoon tea. Prices look reasonable.

Went here for a light lunch. The location is excellent, overlooking the marina. But the staff are off-hand, or in one case rude. There was a mix-up over what we had ordered--there were four of us and only three places came out of the kitchen after 35 minutes wait. Ham egg and chips is only £5 so I shouldn't have been surprised that the ham was wafer thin and the eggs had broken yolks. Voir le carte

Buckden Marina is a lovely place. Shocked and disappointed at the state of the restaurant . No fresh food only tired looking prepacked food available. Old and unkept interior exterior not much better. Was made aware that there are some ongoing disputes and even some people banned! Very sad as great potential but continuing to go down hill. Staff were hard to find . Will not go there again.

Over the years with management problems etc the standards have gone down and down. New management in place but unfortunately not the funds in place to give the place an industrial clean, get in a decent catering team and trained bar staff. Unfortunately local feedback stops people joining as members. A fantastic location, hope the new management can get the place back to where it was several years ago.

For somewhere with such a lovely setting right on the marina, you'd have thought it would be a goldmine packed with hungry and thirsty visitors. But no. There's no sign of any food, it's mostly deserted and even getting a cup of tea took a while as there seemed to be a distinct shortage of staff. Can't quite understand what the problem is as it seems like a really great spot that would pull in the gym members, yoga studio visitors, lodge owners and boat owners. Oh well. Voir le carte

Book a spa for some chill time and catch up with a friend . Omg. Shocking. The whole place was dirty and in need if some major refurbishment. No where to leave valuables so left them behind the bar! Ladies changing rooms out of order so had to use mens. Pool area and facilities tired, broken and in need of cleaning. Went to have a swim and shortly after a member of staff got in the pool and started cleaning it couldn't belive our eyes. Needless to say we got out the pool , got ready went to the bar and told them what happened and they didn't seem bothered at all. Oh once we got to the bar as there were staff on there knees scrubbing the bar n floors. All a bit unbelievable really.

It’s absolutely depressing, warm beers warm wine, no choice no draught lager just warm bottles of beer. You can’t have a meal, because they only do sandwiches, if your lucky a jacket potatoe. It’s sweating hot in there, there’s absolutely NO atmosphere. BUT the view over the marina is stunning the lodges dotted around the edge are so pretty. It’s such a shame this place could be a little gold mine.... The owner is obviously not bothered.... I don’t have any photos of the marina but if you look up BUCKDEN MARINA you will see how lovely it is... if it was a nice day you only want a warm coffee a packet of crisps !!! sitting outside with a book would be a lovely relaxing afternoon.....

"Re opened, refurbished and back with a bang! A classic thatched country pub which has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to more than its former glory, with new owners and new management. It now features a wonderful and sizeable pub garden with stunning views over the Cambridgeshire countryside with the quaint addition of Highland Cows who seem to enjoy watching the customers! Having been for drinks and food now on a couple of occasions, the menu is sophisticated, tasty with plenty of variety. If you're enjoying a drink in the garden, for nibbles, I highly recommend the cheese fritters they compliment a cool glass of Prosecco perfectly. There is an extensive wine list and a selection of cocktails on offer. Inside the pub, it's all olde world charm but with a modern twist and as much I love the warm weather, I almost can't wait to see a roaring fire in the two fireplaces! The staff are friendly and welcoming it's the sort of pub I'd be happy to go into on my own for a light lunch or just a drink. I can't wait to try their Sunday lunch which I've heard good things about already from those who have been! Considering it's a whole new team of people, the service understandably was a little bit slow as they were learning the ropes. However, on my last visit, I was impressed by how much slicker it was they're obviously fast learners. Can't wait to go back and support this quality pub/restaurant."
