"I had an absolutely terrible lunch at this restaurant. There was no vegetarian alternative to the turkey/pork dish I had hoped for. I was told I should have called ahead to mention that I was vegetarian, which I have never had to do in 35 years of not eating meat anywhere except on an airplane. The chef did offer to make me a mushroom risotto as a vegetarian option, but I did not like it. I had been expecting a vegetarian option like a pastry parcel instead of the meat, which is what most places offer. The gravy was made from meat and when I asked for a vegetarian alternative, I was told they did not have any. The Yorkshire pudding I received was burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, and cold. Overall, it was a very disappointing birthday lunch and I would not recommend this restaurant."

I had a delicious egg and sausage breakfast sandwich on their outdoor patio on a sunny morning. The meal was well-prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view as well.

Came here for the first time Monday Exceptionally rude receptionist, ordered food and asked for mustard which she grunted that she doesn’t eat mustard so we get what we get ! Very unprofessional outfit! Avoid unless you like being treated badly! Shame I couldn’t give it a zero it doesn’t even deserve a 1 star!

Booked for lunch, several staff passed us before we finally got seated. Table for two rocked like a see-saw. Need 20-20 vision to read the small font unclear menu, Service was below average, asked for a side dish of spring onion which did not arrive with main course. Food was okay but thought there was a lack of good healthy choices. Location is very nice but overall was a disappointing experience

Was driving back from Cambridge and my mum suggested stopping for a spot of lunch. She had been a few years ago, and said it was really nice... We had a nice a lunch, Mum had ham, egg and chips. I had a tuna sandwich and a side portion of chips. The sandwich came with crisps and a nice salad and the portion of chips was very generous, we had Tea, water and a Diet Coke and all came to £16... The place does need updating, and with a lick or paint and a bit of organisation, would be a hidden gem... I look forward to returning in the summer..

We planned a simple meal for a party of 45 with two options and it was fantastic. The food was well-cooked, hot, and delicious. The side salad was also very good. The restaurant is now under new management with a new chef, so it's worth giving them a try. They have special nights and serve breakfast and lunch. The only downsides are that they close early and are not open for evening meals very often. They have a good selection of bottled beer, but no draft beer except for lager. This restaurant is part of a leisure complex, so it caters to more than just diners.

Just cycled here from the village (Buckden) on a sunny day and being 30degs we fancied a cool beer and sandwich. Super views over the marina, lovely pint of San Miguel and great value food generous portion and all freshly prepared. Friendly service and a great setting. A must stop off if you’re passing and after a quick and simple pint n bite a perfect place to recharge on a weekend bike ride. If you’re after something more formal or greater range of food then the local villages a better option, but neither have the setting and chilled atmosphere. Simple, enjoyable and good value, will certainly be back!

A group of eight of us stopped here for lunch during a good length walk on the Ouse valley way . I was concerned as I had read on trip adviser some poor reviews although some were fairly old . The staff were good the food was good we had a selection of jackets and sandwiches . It came very quickly and in good size portions . It was exactly what we needed and the table on the veranda overlooking the marina was a very pleasant location. The building looks a little tiered but that was of no great consequence for our visit. We all agreed it was a good venue for our lunch break , its not fine dinning but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it based on our experience .

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
