"My best friend lives nearby to this lovely little coffee shop and I thought it would be nice for Christmas to get her a selection of Christmas treats from here as I know she uses it regularly and I have popped in here with her for milkshakes and cakes, when I have been to visit her and her lovely girls. The customer service from this small business was incredible, she knew my friend by name and even knew that she had already ordered a Christmas cake from here and kindly recommended switching the Christmas cake in the order for one of her favourite Guinness cakes. Seeing as she had been so accommodating and friendly I asked as a special request if she could put English muffins in as they were a fond shared childhood memory of ours and Corene replied straight away and said she could, no problem. Such a lovely touch that you would probably never get from a large corporate company. I already felt great that I had supported a small business and their customer service really made it a very pleasant experience. I know this year they have extended their range due to covid to provide fresh eggs, milk, lockdown essentials for lots of the locals to have somewhere easy to get these things in a difficult time and just wanted to spread the word of how wonderful they are!"

"We love this place and can’t wait to go back. It is small and intimate, which makes it personable. The couple who own it are fantastic and make you feel very much at home. The food is exceptional. I don’t eat meat and my wife doesn’t eat fish but this is not a problem as the menu caters for all. If you live in Coulsdon and haven’t tried this place, you are missing out!"

"I planned a surprise dinner for my sister to celebrate a very big event and I was extremely disappointed with the service we received on November 11th. I wish I had gotten our servers name because he was extremely unprofessional. To describe him he is an older (I believe possibly Italian due to his accent) man. Upon entering the restaurant with my sister, her friends were already waiting inside and said surprise to her as we entered. There were a few other patrons in the restaurant at this point, none of whom looked irritated by the situation, in fact many of them were smiling at our celebrations. We sat down at our assigned table and began excitedly chatting and saying hello to our guests. As it was a surprise dinner my sister was especially excited as she was not expecting to see her friends there. After sitting down for no more than 5 minutes the server in question (who we soon realised was unfortunately going to be our server for the night) loudly told us to be quiet as we were “disrupting the restaurant” our level of noise was no more than what you would expect for a party of 7 and it felt like we were being intentionally targeted by him. Nevertheless we lowered our conversation down to be respectful and continued on with our night. He returned shortly after and hurriedly requested us to order our food, we obliged and ordered our respective meals. After some time of receiving and finishing our starters one of my guests asked about the approximate timing of our mains to which she was told that “it will be here when it’s ready”. To finish off the night of awful service when it came time to pay the bill, everyone had diligently calculated their individual totals (including shared drinks service charge) and when he approached our table with the card machine he loudly asked “who is in charge here?” We explained to him three times that nobody is in charge and we all have calculated our individual amounts and will pay individually. After he had collected payment from every single person on the table he said (again very loudly with no respect for our privacy or other customers) that we had not paid our complete bill and owed him money still. Everyone still had their receipts and endured their receipts matched up with the amounts they had calculated. Despite this, he still made the decision to cause a huge scene by bringing a calculator with all his copies of the receipts and sitting down at a table next to us continuously shouting across to us that he was short changed. I was extremely upset and unimpressed by the service we received that night especially in the context of it being a very important celebration dinner fort sister. The only reason why I’m even giving 2 stars is because the food was very delicious however the service was horrendous."

"We recently had a fantastic pizza-making party for our daughter’s 6th birthday at the Coulsdon branch. A special thanks to Izzy our party-host who was lively, friendly and patient with the kids early on a Saturday morning! It was so nice to have the place to ourselves. Received lots of compliments from other parents on the concept of the pizza-making party! The two suggestions I would make are: please make it clear on the party description if you would prefer majority of parents to leave the store (but thank you again for accommodating us nonetheless) and background music! I did ask the chef but it never got played. The music during the games was fun though. A kids party was that really good value for money, thanks again! "I had a great meal at this restaurant and decided to make a return visit. However, when I arrived with a booking, I was informed that there was no reservation and it was actually scheduled for the following day. I had specifically requested a table for three for that night over the phone, so I was confused by the mix-up. The food was delicious during my previous visit, except for the steak which tasted burnt due to a singed leaf on the hot plate. I informed the waitress about this, but the charge for the steak was still included on the bill. It was disappointing to leave with a negative experience, especially since the waitress and food were both excellent. I had hoped to make this my new go-to spot for dining, but now I am reconsidering."
