"Some parts of the dishes were delicious, some tasteless. Delicious scotch egg surrounded by very watery and unseasoned lentils. Meat board OK, but not generous enough. Fantastic duo of lamb with dauphinois and cabbage. Fish and chips, OK Rhubarb and custard panacotta a few pieces of poached rhubarb served alongside a regular (rather tasteless panacotta (where’s the custard? Beer nothing special, Saul Blanc ok (cold at least! Service fine."

"Nous avons dîné ici pour la première fois il y a des années et avons eu un déjeuner mémorable. Tout était parfait de l'ambiance à la nourriture. OK, donc c'était cher mais on nous a fait sentir spécial et la nourriture était délicieuse. Hélas, la plupart des choses ont changé comme nous l'avons découvert à cette occasion. J'ai réservé en ligne pour le déjeuner en juillet pour le samedi septembre. Fini le déjeuner et le service efficace. Nous étions assis à côté d'un groupe de femmes et d'un bébé qui étaient très attentivement servis. Après un retard considérable, mon entrée est arrivée composée de pâté de maquereau fumé et cela est venu sans pain grillé ni pain. Comme plat principal, nous avions tous les deux du flétan et cela a été servi avec une tentative de dessus croustillant qui n'a pas fonctionné. Cuire correctement la croûte aurait trop cuit le poisson, le compromis était donc une croûte à moitié cuite. L'accompagnement de pommes de terre était minuscule mais il n'y avait pas d'accompagnement de pommes de terre, nous avons donc dû commander des chips qui ne convenaient guère. L'une des choses qui n'a pas changé est le prix. Ces offres n'étaient pas bon marché. Notre conclusion est que les nouveaux propriétaires facturent des prix gastronomiques pour une expérience de déjeuner au bar"

"A lovely pub and outside areas, however service and food was a massive let down. Went for Sunday lunch, had a drink first In the garden and the arrived at 1.30 to be seated, got given menus only to be told there was no beef and only pork available or the steak. At 1.30!? Most of us chose the pork, was left waiting for ages so had to get someone's attention to order, seemed to be only 3 people running the bar and the restaurant, asked for tap water which was forgotten, tried to get someone's attention to order drinks but we had been left half an hour now so I went up to order. Pork when it came was so thickly cut it was chewy and grey. No roast potato's given on one of the plates, gravy was like water. No flavour to anything except the cauli cheese which was nice. Table behind us also complained. Most of our plates were left full so we explained and manager came over and offered 50%off bill which was good service in the end. A real shame as saw the reviews were good but definitely would not return."

"We recently spent a family meal at The Fox, what a wonderful place; beautiful setting and a lovely atmosphere. However having ordered meals for Children’s starters and then mains, the Children’s main meal was brought out before anyone including the children had received their starter. That wasn’t a problem to us, we let the waiter know they hadn’t had their starters but what was the problem was the rudeness of two members of staff (one of whom seemed to be the manageress!! although it was unclear if that was her position) she eye rolled directly at us as though we were causing her a problem for simply asking for a starter to be brought before a main! Never in my life have I ever experienced such rude service, everything was a problem for her. She should not be working in hospitality with an attitude like that. We felt as though our simply being there was a major issue for her. She spoilt the whole meal for us, which is so sad as the young girls who also served us and the male senior member of staff were charming. We simply ate our mains and left and would not be paying the £64 service charge expected after the worse service we have had in our lives! A real shame as we love The Wild Rabbit and Daylesford but will not return to have eyes rolled at us for simply requesting that a starter was brought out before a main!!!! Finally to point out as a dog lover myself there is a time and a place for them, and sat at a dinner table on their owners knees where people are going to eat their meals and barking constantly in a restaurant is not one of them! I’m not sure how this is hygienic in any way."

"I made a reservation for the evening and decided to dine out instead of cooking. It wasn't necessary to reserve a table as there was only one other table occupied, so the ambiance wasn't great. Despite there being only two tables, I expected the server to remember our starters, but unfortunately, he forgot. He apologized when bringing them out with the main course, but it was still disappointing. The food was good, but there are more appealing restaurants nearby, so I wasn't in a rush to return. I would recommend this place more for lunch. Overall, it had a slightly melancholic atmosphere as if it wasn't clear why it was open for dinner service."
