"Enjoyed a superb, set menu Valentines dinner at the Dukes Head staff very friendly but the food was SUPERB! Grilled Garlic Prawns as a starter followed by short crust Venison pie which was one of the best meat pies I 've ever eaten not a spec of gristle to be found; just high quality meat. My wife had braised Lamb shank which was so tender it was falling off the bone. Dessert was a 'sharing ' plate with Brownies, Chocolate Orange Ice Cream and Eton Mess. Brownies were light, moist and not too stodgy perfect in fact! All in all, top quality food and great value. Well done do all the staff (especially the chef! ."

really excellent food, with good size portions. Friendly and helpful staff, who were perfectly happy to serve around our three large dogs.

Food once arrived was ok, but took a very long time starters half an hour. Had special dietary requirements that they took note when ordering but when food arrived they seem to have forgotten about it. Unpleasant male staff really passive aggressive and no apology at all when miscalculating our bill. Won’t return.

An absolute gem! I really cannot recommend this place highly enough. The decor and atmosphere are stunning. The food is home cooked, locally sourced, and very reasonably priced. But most of all, the staff are fantastic. Attentive, and really care about your overall experience. A big shout out to Clare, and thank you.

What a lovely pub. Lovely staff. Not at all pretentious. Dog friendly. Great food. Well kept beer reasonably priced wines. A good lunch time menu. Plenty of customers on a Wednesday lunchtime are testament to the quality to the quality of the food. We sat outside in the spring sun and had a thoroughly enjoyable few hours. Will definitely be back.

Considering the area and clientele, the Sunday roast is consistently underwhelming. I came here a decade ago and in the last couple of weeks. Horrible ‘roast potatoes’ full of oil, nasty half raw ‘cauliflower cheese’ and tough old beef. That said, it was mostly edible but they need to try harder. Pub decor was also tired and slightly aseptic. Sorry guys!
