"I 'm surprised with the amazing standard of this place in the backstreets of Roath, Cardiff. The room was brand new and very warm when 0°c outside. Very clean and everything is new. Nice Samsung TV with netflix, music channels etc etc , clean and powerful hot shower. Staff have bent over backwards to accommodate and make sure our stay had been comfortable. There is a bar downstairs which is very quirky with a caged bird that talks and a cat that sits at the bar. The barstaff Beth very polite , she couldn 't do enough for us and made our stay feel very welcome; nothing was too much trouble. Without a doubt I would stay again as such a high standard for such a cheap price . Loads of parking spaces outsidek and 24/7 shops within walking distance . Thanks for everything Crofts hotel and staff"

Cardiff is a wonderful city but this hotel is more like a ZOO. There were dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and nanny noggins (Lorraine! roaming around at breakfast. Extremely unhygienic! I informed Lorraine that I was unhappy and she screamed at me that I was a cowardly worm . I won 't be back! HOW DARE LORRAINE CALL ME A LIAR. MY REVIEW IS 100% FACTUAL!

We went for a Sunday carvery. We were late for it so the food had been out for a bit but that was our fault really. There was Pork, Turkey or Beef on when we went, and an option of a vegetarian Mediterranean vegetable tart. We enjoyed our meal and service was good as always. Unfortunately no Real Ale on on that day but usually when we come in there is at least one changing Real Ale on and we really enjoy it. Sports always on in both rooms, and pool tables out the back

Booked this after reading the good reviews, but very Disappointed. After a long days travelling and working, arrived at the hotel around 19:00 with several hours of work still to complete. On arrival was told that there was no food available and the kitchen had in fact been closed for several weeks. Awkard for to find food on short notice. They are still advertising food as available. Staff did provide a ham roll. Had to go to reception after a shower to get a hairdryer. Room was clean and comfortable and stadd were pleaseant. Email to the hotal was also a poor response, basically no apology. Would avoid

Called in for Sunday lunch today for the first time. Very friendly staff. Thats what I like! Dinner was 3 roast meats, all very tender, and a lovely selection of vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. Vegetables were cooked just right. Tasty stuffing balls, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds. Proper welsh gravy was delicious. This was self service. We arrived about 3.30pm. I think the dinner would have been exceptional if we'd gone earlier eg 12.30pm only because the Yorkshire puds would have been a bit softer. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch but sadly I had to leave without telling the staff. If you like a dinner that's like tasty home cooking, you will enjoy this. We will defin...

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
