"We were welcomed by a 'We 're only serving coffee and cakes '. It was 3.30 in the afternoon Easter Saturday and that was fine, it was all we wanted but a more polite welcome would have been better! I asked, as an allergy sufferer what I could have but there was no option available to me, so I had just tea. As a cook in a cafe myself I bend over backwards to make sure I have options available for gluten, egg, dairy, nut, vegan etc dietary requirements. As an allergy sufferer I know how difficult it is to eat out and not feel left out and it 's not a pleasant experience! Another couple came in shortly before 4 and were rudely turned away. It really was a, it 's late in the day, I want to go home and want everyone to leave attitude by who I assume was the manager. The girl that served us was pleasant. Suffice to say, we wish we 'd gone somewhere else and on this occasion made a really bad choice."

Beautiful pot of Earl Gray and a choice of gluten free cake. I had the carrot cake, which was lovely. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Warm and friendly with good food and the best coffee in Much Wenlock. A meeting place for locals and popular with tourists. There is always a warm welcome.

We were turned away with our small well behaved dog because as we walked in two badly behaved dogs started snarling and barking so we had to go back out into the pouring rain

We popped in for elevensies. The tea loaf was delicious, as were the lemon drizzle cake and the coffee cake. Delicious tea and latte. The staff were lovely. This is a beautiful tea shop.

Went for lunch with friends. Cafe was busy, but we got a table. Staff were very friendly (and seemed to know most of the people in there who were obviously returning locals always a good sign! . Service was friendly and fast. Food was very good we had scrambled egg and mushrooms on toast, Early Grey tea etc... Excellent!

Called in for lunch with my family and to be honest the prices are expensive for the food received. £10.95 for 2 small sausages a few chips one egg and one round of bread and butter. Not what you expect to pay in a small cafe with a limited menu as this was. I don’t mind paying for good food but i would label this as staff canteen food at London restaurant prices. Would not recommend.

We popped in for a quick breakfast while we were looking around the beautiful little town. First surprise to greet us was the fantastic hand painted mural on the walls of the town and the friendly atmosphere. The next surprise was the well presented breakfast cooked to perfection (to my liking at least). Real bread, meaty sausages, egg, bacon, beans and ash browns. Washed down with a great tasting coffee. I will be back.

On visiting the town we walked into Tea on the Square, and saw that a table had become free with no clear reservation sign. Before we both even had the chance to sit down, we were shouted at from a waitress across the café, who said that the table was reserved and that we couldn't sit there as the table was reserved infront of a full café mind! Another table offered for us to sit at theirs but due to the sheer lack of professionalism shown by the staff member, we politely declined and went elsewhere. Appreciate when times are busy and stressful but there are ways of speaking to potential customers and an apology wouldn't go a miss. Won't be visiting here again due to this. There are a small...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
