"We visited today on our way home through Shropshire . We both had toasted sandwiches. Having read a couple of previous reviews which were rather on the negative side I have to say we would completely disagree. The toasted sandwiches were £8.45 and came with a lovely fresh salad ,homemade coleslaw and crisps. We chose ham, cheese and tomato for our fillings and they certainly don’t scrimp on the fillings. They oozed with cheese and had plenty of ham and tomato. We both have healthy appetites and it was plenty for us. The staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you and they even made our dog really welcome too. We were too full for cakes but we overheard all the customers in the tea room comment on their beautiful meals, snacks and cakes.if we come to Much Wenlock again we will definitely come back."

The tea and scones were excellent, the service was perfect, and they even gave a sausage to our dog. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the lovely village.

The staff were welcoming and provided friendly service. We decided to stop for a quick lunch and found that the food, although fairly standard fare (such as toasties, baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc.), was tasty. We had no complaints at all.

We are here on holiday and popped in today for a coffee and cake. The staff were so kind and friendly and the place was cosy and comfortable. It was very busy so it’s obviously a popular spot. Would highly recommend the lemon drizzle too! Yum! Thanks for being so welcoming!

I visited this restaurant on a bank holiday Monday and ordered an Olympic breakfast. It looked okay when it came out, but the bacon tasted sour. I sent it back and they gave me more bacon that also tasted sour. I had to leave it because I suspected it was off. The customer service was very poor, and I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
