"If you thought you liked the to-be-eaten-anytime-not -just in-Winter Swiss national favourite Roesti (fried shredded potato) , you could be disappointed trekking all the way to this quaint farm'. Firstly it is not a farm. Nor do they grow their own potatoes(! ..but it is a...very old farm building.. sorely in need of a more enlightened approach to décor..sweep away the kitch leave only the old working on-the -land implements crowding the walls ceilings, please. But devotees don't care--we were informed we were lucky to get a table without a reservation. that's for lunch! Yes you CAN get a classic ROSCHTI (Swiss-German way of spelling with the double dot over the o if you insist...but the locals clearly all go for more bizzare versions (to this non-Swiss reviewer).. I ordered a classic' with a pork bratwurst (smothered in gluggy poor-quailty brown onion sauce) on the side; the roesti exactly as I think it should be..nicely crisp browned. Not extraordinary--just good. My hostess tucked into her favourite...her roschti was covered with various savoury ingredients including a bacon-cream sauce - all of which rendered the potato's crispness null void! What's the point I thought? There are PAGES of such variations listed in an inventively extensive menu a lot of which the English other languages) version oddly EXCLUDES entirely...? I was frankly horrified at how they had fiddled with tradition. But as a foreigner, what do I know?. The outstanding offering of our luncheon for me was their justly-famous Coleslaw..it really was the best I have ever had! Two cabbage varieties--red green- I think tasting ever so slightly differently, came generously served on a single plate. Not sweet--an elegant light vinegary', very slightly creamed, taste. Both cabbages had been softened or wilted (yet still retaining a very slight crunchiness). Achieving this his texture was really outstanding! SO successful, they've added a more popular (rather charmless) extra room to cope with increased trade have extended alongside , producing a remarkably ugly outdoor dining space sharing what would have been the glorious long view of the valley to the distant mountains but mostly obliterated by a hideous childrens' playground installation of municipal proportions. I left feely deflated aching to realise how often one sees how commercial imperatives can so easily ruin something unique. ONLY detour if you happen to be in the area. Don't go in Summer--no aircon inside--but Autumn, Winter Spring inside OK."
