"edible maternal day lunch my first visit at the george in the beautiful village great amwell. from the moment we went, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Drinks arrived immediately, as well as each of the 3 courses during our stay. it has a nice cozy atmosphere and eating is not only very well presented, it tastes delicious. more restaurant quality eat in a pub. it is not the cheapest place in the world, with menu prices that touch on london prices, but when they are in demand, and the people are happy to pay. then what can they expect me to return and recommend for a beautiful meal"

"The food here is amazing we have been before for a roast dinner which was great and then this time we went for a pre-halloween outing dinner. The food was delicious and we were in a rush but everything was so efficient and quick for us. Plenty of dairy free options. All the girls are lovely but we were served by Emily B who is a delight and a credit to the Kings Mead. She was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. 10/10 service and food to match, what more could you ask for."

"Great fish and chips with an extensive gluten free menu. The gluten free batter was better than most chip shop's regular batter which meant I could happily share with my gluten intolerant partner. The Samphire, Mushy peas and tartare sauce were top notch also. The staff were friendly and welcoming too, I would definitely go back and recommend Dietary restrictions: Gluten intolerance Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Fish Chips"

"Great Italian cuisine and really good value ! My wife and I went there for an anniversary meal and couldn't fault the food all of which arrived promptly and was piping hot, which I really liked. The restaurant itself looks a little plain inside with bare wooden tables and chairs and just a few scenic paintings on the walls, but in a way that was good because you didn't feel you were on airs and graces, so you could relax, The staff were very prompt and attentive and we were served quickly with no fuss. Between us we ordered a simple spaghetti bolognese and a canelloni, plus a side order of flatbread, all of which were delicious ! Considering that we had two drinks for starters, plus a glass of house red and an amaretto coffee to finish, the final bill was very reasonable, coming in at under £69 I thought that was really good value. This place is a little gem hidden up a side street in Ware but is well worth seeking out we will definitely go again !"

"I can’t really review the pub or the food but only my experience a few weeks ago. Myself and 3 sisters had driven from Oxford on our way to our sisters funeral, at St Elizabeth’s convent just 20 minutes from Wareside. We had stopped at the pub many times over the years. It was a Monday. There were many signs outside the pub, all saying it was open. We were early for the funeral, so decided to stop for teas and coffees (as we had in the past) As we got out of the car and made our way to the entrance, a woman was sat in her car in the car park, opened her door, and asked ‘can I help you’ we were like, it’s ok thanks, we are stopping off here for coffee?. Her response was ‘well, the pub is closed, and it is a pub, we sell alcohol if you want coffee, you should go back and stop at Costa’s!! Her tone was very rude and sarcastic! We pointed out that the signs said it was open, to which she replied, they forgot to take them down. We asked her if the pub over the road was open (Chequers) to which she replied it is a pub , they sell alcohol.We were all shocked how rude and sarcastic she was. I’m assuming she was the landlady. If she was a member of staff then whoever manages her needs to teach her how to talk to customers. I just checked on the website, and they serve tea and coffee?"
