"It’s early October and I turned up at so I was safe from some of the issues described in previous reviews.Being quite hungry, I bypassed the tea scones option for the Beef Gravy Bap with chips. It was just okay: the beef was rather tasteless, but at least it was tender, and the gravy tasted like it was made from granules rather than the real thing. The chips were alright too, a better quality cook from frozen product. The bap was nondescript, not giving the impression that it had seen a local bakery. However, at it was fairly priced for a popular Yorkshire market town.I had the Colombian coffee served in a metal carafe, which could have used one more spoonful of ground beans, but it would be harsh to downgrade a review on that basis. The servers were loud but friendly, with no trace of the attitude issues mentioned before. I could see, however, how that might change when under pressure.Unfortunately, I noticed the large, fresh scones cake being served to a neighbouring table all too late. They looked absolutely wonderful and most likely substantial enough to have accommodated my hunger. Of course I didn’t taste them, but if you can go by looks alone, they certainly delivered. Next time!"

The Posthorn never fails us it’s the best cafe in Leyburn. Todays cooked breakfast was perfect in every way, great portion, high standard of local ingredients, and good value.

Two sides to this review, went and spoke to a lady for a table inside but she was unable to move things around to fit us in but didn't offer us seating outside which we had to find out for ourselves.Went back a time and saw a gentleman who was very helpful and whilst the food took a while to arrive it was worth waiting for, a lovely hot breakfast for all of us. We were hoping to find somewhere to experience a delicious cream tea. As we are visitors to the area we were not sure we would find such a place. Leyburn didn't let us down, we found this extremely busy tea room and cafe. The service was friendly, keen to help and extremely helpful. The Tea and Scones were to die for, no wonder people were queueing for a table..

Friendly welcome especially as we were very wet. Shown to a table. We didn't wait long till our order was taken. I had a very generous sized tuna salad sandwich and my Husband had some Victoria sponge cake which he said was perfect.. We did go back the next day before our 5 hr drive home. I had a very tasty cheese sconce, my Husband had ham, egg and chips. Once again good food and friendly staff.

Food was pleasant but service was rude, particularly from one staff member, as if I were an inconvenience. She took our order down wrong and rather than graciously accept the mistake she made a point of returning to our table, infront of other diners, waving the order tab at me as if that proved she was right I responded by clarifying that all it confirmed was she had written down the wrong order. We couldn't wait to finish the food and leave, will never return. Voir le carte

Five of us came for a light lunch. Unfortunately they don't cater for large parties so we were sat at a table for four with six people next to us also on a table for four! We persevered and had various snack dishes. I shared a cheese scone with Wensleydale cheese and a piece of fruitcake also with cheese, with my wife. The quality was nice although the portions were a little small. Others had baps filled with sausage and eggs served with chips which were more substantial. The tea and coffee here is very good and we bought some packs of it for home. Overall this is a very nice cafe if a little cramped and slightly on the expensive side.

The warmest of welcomes. Our daughter has a milk intolerance and the owners (lady out front and husband chef, we think? , we’re very accommodating and helpful. We had a children’s breakfast and two regular breakfasts. The food was lovely, very clean (i.e., not an oily mess! , bacon and sausage clearly top quality farm meat, everything was spot on. My only reservation, and reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that it’s quite expensive for the size of meal you get… the regular breakfast has only one sausage and one egg, which isn’t huge for a tenner, if I’d added in a couple of bits to make it a good belly buster I’d be well into 15 quid or more, which is a bit steep i think. One more sausage a...

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
