"After a long day exploring the Drenthe (Netherlands) countryside, we crossed the border for a typical German dinner. We were not disappointed.Some might called this place kind of old-fashioned, but I liked it.The service was efficient as well as friendly and quick.The menu offers a number of recurring dishes plus seasonal specialties (our autumn choice was a variety of dishes all based on pumpkin). However, we went for 2 of the standard choices. My wife had fried gold bass in a breadcrumb crust, while I settled for a rump steak. The nice thing with the rump steak is that you can choose each and every side dish separately. Unfortunately I could not get the fresh chanterelle mushrooms that I wanted, but at least the canned variety was available, and it was lovely. Combined with fried onions and almond potato croquettes, it was a great main dish.Fortunately, the restaurant offers plenty of choice as to beers (some nice local ones), and not just German wines which is good.I especially appreciate that the owner of the restaurant, although old and having difficulty walking with 2 crutches, made his rounds to all tables to personally greet everyone, and have a little chat with the regulars. That shows commitment and dedication.Well worth a visit!"

"Dans certains endroits comme Meppen ou Lingen, prendre le déjeuner après l'après-midi est vraiment difficile et les gens sont contrariés si vous arrivez près de l'heure de fermeture pour mittagsruhe alors ils vous crient dessus: la cuisine est fermée ... cependant, à cet endroit c'était. ..complètement différent. C'était une bonne surprise, car nous voulions manger ailleurs, et je le recommande vivement. Le personnel était si gentil et serviable qu'ils ont même gardé la cuisine ouverte jusqu'à ce que nous puissions décider ce que nous voulions manger, et la nourriture était délicieuse. Bonne nourriture, service agréable, sympathique et accueillant, et les prix sont corrects"

"Pizza Nr. 38 Ich war absolut enttäuscht für diese hochpreisige Pizza. Leider nur 3 Gourmetsterne von 5, wenn überhaupt für diese angeblich original italienische Pizza. Der Pizzaboden war nicht durch, halb roh, oben auf der Pizza war viel Olivenöl, welches nicht auf der Karte stand, das war nix. Übrigens wir waren zu dritt, bei allen gleich und enttäuschend 2x Nr. 38 1x Nr. 36. Wobei diese etwas besser war Mag sein, dass andere Gerichte hier in Ordnung sind. Eine solche, hochpreisige Pizza würde ich und beide anderen hier nicht noch einmal bestellen."

"15.4.2017 Karsamstag - die Fastenzeit vorbei,Ostern sind wir mit dem Festtagsessen im ,,Alten Gasthaus Giese" gern dabei.Auch dieses Jahr war uns nicht bekannt ,was Annelen Giese zum Ostermenü hat ernannt.Unterm Bausen haben wir Platz genommen,Sarah ist auch gleich mit den Getränken gekommen.Annelen kam an den Tisch heran und sagte, was als Vorspeise käme bei uns an.Eine Bärlauchcremesuppe unter Sahnehaube verdeckt,geschmacklich fein abgestimmt - hervorragend geschmeckt.Als Hauptgang kam eine Fleischplatte für drei,damit begann die österliche Schlemmerei.Schweinelende mit Preisselbeersahnesauce gesondert serviert,der Lammbraten wurde von köstlicher Minzsauce hofiert.Hähnchenbrust fein und zart,Rouladen nach Großmutter Art.Alles von Böhnchen im Speckmantel umgeben,es war einfach köstlich, das zu erleben.Die Gemüseplatte mit Spargel umrahmt von Zuckermöhren,die könnte jeden Vegetarier verwöhnen.Kartfoffelgratin und Bratkartoffeln ließen keine Wünsche offen.Auf gesonderten Tellern bunter knackiger Salat,kam für uns drei ebenso an den Start.Alles in allem, das muss ich gestehn,wer das Osterfest genießen will, der sollte nach Bokeloh gehn.Im Namen meiner Kinder möchte ich Danke sagen,wir sehen uns wieder in nicht zu fernen Tagen."

"Wir waren zu 5 zum Essen mittags eingekehrt!Die ältere und etwas jüngere Generation! Schon bei der Weinauswahl kamen Ulaubserinnerungen zurück!Ein guter Vermentino gut gekühlt und vom Chef nett serviert!Eine ANTIPASTI-Platte und Bruschetta folgten, als Vorspeise!Lecker:-). Hauptgänge waren Pizza, Schwertfisch, Gambas und Hähnchenbrustfilet! Salat knackig und alle Gerichte schmackhaft und reichhaltig!Die Atmosphäre sehr schön und das Restaurant ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet! Wir waren uns einig......bestimmt nochmal!"
