"We ordered a takeaway (31st January 2020) from Smoke and Glaze, who run within Pipe and slippers (our regular drinking den) We had been told by friends that this was supposed to be the best burger in town. We had just completed Veganuary and as a treat went for the Hot chick burger (x2), chips and wings and was sorely disappointed. The food was delivered after the driver had delivered a previous order. So took a while to arrive to us. Both burgers, chips and the wings were stone cold, the burger bun was so soggy that the burger fell apart and was unedible. The potion of chips was measly at the kindest, and for the price, we both felt we had been ripped off. I hate to leave this review as I am a big promoter of independents in Bristol, and will only eat in independent restaurants. The quality may be better at the venue, however, we were both disappointed and hence will not be returning for food anytime soon."

Bold opinion in Bristol. I used to say Asado or Burger Joint but this was better than both. Incredible.

The atmosphere at this restaurant is lovely and the roast dinner with all the trimmings is excellent! I highly recommend it to everyone. The Yorkshire puddings were especially delicious!

I had heard great things about the roast at this restaurant, but I was extremely disappointed. The potatoes were deep-fried and dry, the vegetables were rock hard, and the chicken was also dry. It was an awful experience.

I was shocked when I was charged £3 for a soda water with lime at this restaurant. It's a total rip-off and I definitely won't be coming back. They have soda water on tap, so it's ridiculous to charge that much for just a splash of lime cordial.

We arrived and they didn't have our booking but were really quick in accomodating us!! Drinks were quick and the staff were really friendly and relaxed. Food was outstanding, and served with lots of gravy! The leekes gratin was delicious! Would 100% reccomend! My only negative was that the guy serving us drinks pulled his facemask down to talk to us which really defeats the point of the mask.

I was on business and my colleague saw great reviews on TripAdvisor so we gave it a whirl. GREAT burgers ! I 'm not generally a 'burger person ' but I ordered a smash budget, my colleague ordered the burger with blue cheese.. both exceeded expectations, lovely! I had an issue a few days later, I realised I had been charged twice. Once I contacted the team, this was dealt with really quickly and refunded. An honest mistake, but handled really well. Highly recommended, and I 'll defo visit again next time I 'm on business!

Chanced across this place glad I did. Burger was joint best I've had in my life the bacon used was refreshingly free of any fat. Immediately booked roast following day standard was similarly high, with largest portion of beef I've ever been served. Other pubs take note: There was NO soggy mash paste mountain used to make the meal look bigger. All staff friendly, on top of their game actually happy to be there. Drinks also excellent. Gold standard foodie pub that didn't feel particularly gastro. Would happily visit for drinks only.
