"the upper land weinstube is a karlsruher institution since a century. founded in 1918 and largely spared from the second world war, it is now in the family grinderspacher for three generations. at the beginning of the 90s entice michelin a star who had gone later for a few years, until 2010 the young, then very young, sören took over the kitchen differently. with his change to the turmberg 2013 and the takeover by jörg hammer was the starzeit then first; a bib gourmand still tastes the good stub. on our culinary list, she was working quite far above; a suitable reason to “do” was the visit of two young ladies from this island, which is less known for their exquisite cuisine than for their suicide policy. we were also welcomed, although it was already half an hour after the kitchen near 13:30. it is cozy in the inner, especially in the small next room we had for ourselves. I could imagine, however, that the air finally gets quite thick when it is full, at least in winter, if they cannot open the windows. because we had planned a lot of visits for the rest of the day, we did not have the wine that came overland in the beginnings of the restaurants, especially from the brand-Gäfler-Land, in the then cloudy mouth. the lunch card was short, but pretty good. you can see a solid German foundation with international building and building. vegetarian dishes that we were looking for forgiveness, which is more than amazing today. for the vegetarian, however, there was always an appetizer for our demand (fieldsalat with crumbs and a main dish (sauerrahmstrudel with forest mushrooms, both from the dinner menu; they could also note this on the lunch card so that the veggies do not feel like external. and those who also look forward to a small selection of meats is mine, but not everyone is sweet, but for them there is still only one dish to choose. for a menu in this price (at least under 30, today 33,80 € the kitchen is extremely refined. they have a lot of effort with the presentation as it belongs to a restaurant of this category. there were also some surprises: the fennel was for example, which was put in the appetizers to garnel, was wounded so that we had initially held it for mischievous, and the black nuts (unrived, sweet inlaid walnuts, which gave it to the Argentinian barkback, were for us a completely new experience. my otherwise successful beef was unfortunately penetrated by a mighty blessing, who demanded me somewhat sunk and randomly, with a look at the accompanying, also swallowing acrobatics; my wife was very happy with her piece. so also our niece with her curil butter with her filled articock soils, and finally also her vegetarian friend with already mentioned acidic cream with forest mushrooms. with the very seasonal dessert, consisting of Bratapfel variations with speculatiuseis, the kitchen seemed to show that it is still ambitious to higher. the service was also very pleasant: friendly, excellent informed and fast, otherwise we would not have been ready as late arrival until 15 o'clock when the restaurant goes into the deserved lunchtime rest. there was a real museum piece in the form of an old wallurnal with a flush box under the deck and chain hoist as I have not seen it since my last youthful time. that I was allowed to experience it again. so strengthened we went on an extensive digestion path through the castle park."
