Le Grand Bleu - Menu

Nice menu with a good variety of dishes, Food we ordered was excellent. Asian salad was tasty and the cassoulet of mussels was creamy and spicy. The frites are very homemade, potatoey and crispy and yes it is a bit pricey but where isn't if you are looking at sea!

Je suis revenu après deux ans et j'ai trouvé le restaurant en bon état. Belle vue sur la mer et petite terrasse. À l'intérieur, le style est contemporain. La nourriture est très bonne et bien présentée. Le service est rapide et très sympathique. Tout cela contribue à vous faire sentir à l'aise. Je considère cela comme un atout parmi le grand nombre de restaurants dans cette ville.

I don’t know where to start ultimately excellent hospitality and service, super good food and really nice overview on the sea. The owner did his best to make us feel like if we were his dearest guests very warm, nice and attentive. Service was excellent and food was so fresh (had oysters, shrimps and fish) and delicious. Next time in LGM I’ll return to this place. Highly recommend this place. Here you’ll have one of the best of your time in France!

Quelle belle surprise ! Après avoir sillonné plusieurs restaurants à la recherche d'un endroit qui sert à manger après 21h30, nous sommes tombés sur ce restaurant avec un propriétaire très aimable qui pouvait nous proposer des plats principaux et des desserts, ce qui est tout ce dont on a besoin. La nourriture et le service étaient excellents, le veau était délicieux, en particulier la sauce aux champignons sauvages. Je recommande sans hésiter, mais attention : si vous avez besoin d'un taxi après début septembre, vous n'aurez pratiquement aucune chance.

Nous avons visité le restaurant avec ma famille pour un déjeuner dominical en septembre. Le restaurant était animé, mais pas plein. Nous avons commandé du vin et de l'eau. Malheureusement, il a fallu trois tentatives supplémentaires pour obtenir l'eau ! Les plats principaux ont été commandés, deux sont arrivés, puis environ dix minutes plus tard, les moules sont arrivées, déjà prêtes mais froides ! J'ai appelé le serveur, qui les a emportées et, quinze minutes plus tard, elles sont revenues, mais hélas, elles n'étaient pas fraîches et avaient été réchauffées, les rendant caoutchouteuses, donc je me suis retrouvé sans déjeuner ! Nous avons payé et sommes partis, hélas je ne recommanderais pas...

We took some time picking which restaurant to visit as there were so many to chose from. This one was busy, which is normally a good sign and had a nice view, and on the side of the canal. The staff were very welcoming and we sat right on the roadside. The cold seafood platter looked great with Lobster, Crab, Crevettes, Mussels, Snails, Prawns and Oysters. The display when it arrived was very good and it was accompanied by bread and garlic butter. The Oysters were exqisite and the prawns, snails very good however, the rest including the Lobster, Mussels and Crevettes were wet and tasteless as if they had been frozen. It was our first visit to Le Grande Motte. It's an interesting sea-side town. New and definitely not traditional. It's been mostly well done with upkeep kept to a decent standard. On reflection I think that October was a good time to visit, sort of between seasons not too busy but not dead. On appearances alone the Grand Bleu stood out. It was the busiest restaurant we saw and we didn't have a reservation. We just managed to get an outside table. We were helped by an extremely energetic older man who could have been the owner. Next time we'll book. We opted for the 30 euro menu, prawns for me and fish soup for my wife to start, we both had sea bream for the main and a sort of chocolate souff...

We spent two days in La Grande Motte with another couple, and having had a rather unpleasant meal at Entre Terre et Mer the first evening (see review) we decided to venture further from our hotel. We decided to stick with local fishy menus and eventually fetched up outside the Grand Bleu, where a guy giving the impression of having maybe drunk a little too much but nevertheless quite humorous with it tempted us inside. What attracted us to this restaurant rather than any of the others nearby on the restaurant strip beside the canal was the bright appearance with a blue and white theme. Almost empty when we arrived at 12.15, the restaurant was almost completely full within fifteen minutes. We heard nothing but French around us so assumed this wasn’t a typically tourist restaurant although menu translations were available. Lunch was a long leisurely affair, perfect for a sunny Sunday and just what we like, although we could see this could be irksome if you wanted more time to sightsee.
