Enjoyed the lunchtime (weekday) menu here. Started with an aubergine Timbale served with salad as a starter, followed by a slightly chewy beef faux-fillet. It was, nevertheless, tasty. Plus the pepper sauce served alongside in one of those posh mini-saucepans was delicious.

We ate dinner here and were amazed at how good the food was. It is a small bistro in the old center, and one woman is the server, host, bartender, and busser! We had foie gras maison (excellent), the duck, and baba rhum/creme brulee (also...correctly done). Reasonable price point for such well-done food, with fine details (lightly roasted cherry tomatoes in the salad, cherry compote with the foie). HIGHLY recommend.

We chose the Plat da Jour. Beef steak and chips with a splash of salad. For euro, you cannot expect a spectacular lunch, but running a knife down the edge of the steak removes the collagen tendon so that the meat has every chance...of being tender. I always think this is poor food prep. The fries were fine be not with the crisp texture that also should have been possible. Ate here for lunch and chose the plat du jour, in this case some form of steak and chips. Food was fairly average, nothing special but definitely not the terrible quality some of the other reviews mention. Main, soft drink and a coffee for euros. As a solo diner I was offered the table directly next to the road or one tucked around the corner. I chose around the corner and, although it was pleasant in terms of shade and noise volume, I was somewhat ignored by staff who pretty much forgot I was there.

A late lunch and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Not advised. The chef disappeared very rapidly as did the staff. When one returned she made as much noise as possible with all the glasses from lunch close to where we sat. The...faux filet about fat and the fries need a written apology. With little choice at that time of day, we eat what we could very little and took in liquids through a not too bad red wine. To cap it all the workmen started within a few metres of where we sat with power tools, etc. We paid and left never to return. There are so many really good restaurants in Nimes.

La pire nourriture que nous ayons mangée jusqu'à présent lors de nos vacances en France. On dirait que le cuisinier était lui aussi en vacances. Dans nos verres à vin, il y avait des morceaux de liège. Les frites étaient imbibées d'huile et pas du tout croustillantes. Le burger et la galette de pommes de terre étaient mangeables mais pas vraiment assaisonnés. Le steak de taureau était très caoutchouteux et la sauce au poivre ne pouvait pas être qualifiée de sauce, c'était de la crème réchauffée avec du poivre. Nous avons eu un déjeuner assez décevant ici, ce qui est dommage car il y a quelques années nous mangions ici plusieurs fois car les salades et plats principaux étaient parfaits et le service était amical. Le service était lent et inattentif, les repas étaient incohérents en termes de portion et de qualité (le filet de saumon de ma femme était minuscule par rapport à la table voisine). La nourriture était fade et fade. Le steak tartare n'était pas très bon et manquait de câpres et d'autres ingrédients clés. Le dessert était correct. La bière et les vins étaient bons. Nous ne reviendrons plus jamais !!!

We visited on a January lunchtime. The restaurant is in the centre of town and a good location if you are visiting. The place was quite full but the owner was welcoming and found us a table. My wife chose a salad for a starter...and spare ribs for a main course on the menu du jour. She said they were excellent. I, on the other hand, took a risk with pumpkin soup and steak/frites to follow. The soup, like most French soups lacked flavour and the steak was like shoe leather. Why do so many French restaurants not know how to choose decent cuts of meat? Had I chosen something else, I have no doubt that I would have been better satisfied. We had a day in Nimes and at lunch time looked at a number of restaurants and found them either quite expensive or if they did offer a menu of the day, there were no options on the menu. We chose this one as it...did have a well priced menu of the day which offered two choices for both entree and main course we didn’t look at dessert). All four of us had two courses plus wine for euro total which was amazing value. (The two course menu was about euro. )We enjoyed our food. One person had steak and it was not tender but the rest of us had the fish on an artichoke purée accompanied by sweet potato mash and risotto. Quite delicious.
