"My son and his gf have been raving about this place for ages, they are regulars but even after the covid closures their favourite orders were remembered. Having lunch here with them felt like they were taking me round to a mate's place, we were all made to feel so welcome. Then the food arrived and oh my, simple food expertly prepared, delicious and satisfying. The Sudanese tea was delightful too. I can see why they come here so often. We were saying that we will have to try their private dining room option soon. 3 courses for £25, with no corkage for BYOB sounds like the ideal place to have a get together. Certainly a bargain but I have heard that the curries here are to die for which makes it even better value. Delicious, healthy, filling , super friendly and cheap, what's not to love."

A gem of a place. Omar is the friendliest host who gives everyone a warm welcome and his wraps are simply delicious.

The food is amazing, the atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. And the owner is the sweetest most welcoming guy ever. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place, excellent meals, and such a friendly team of people. Strongly recommended! One of the best African meals I have had in the UK.

Omar the head chef a wizard with the fusion ingredients. Taste was off the scale and the team could not have been more attentive. Thank you for an excellent evening. Voir le carte

The food was amazing and our visit was made so much better by how welcoming and sweet the owner was! Will definitely be visiting again the next time we’re in Edinburgh :

I love coming here to eat it once for my favourite places for a 12pm lunch! The falafel is probably the best i have tried in edinburgh hands down. Will be consistently coming here again!!

We had the most wonderful evening. Omar created a veritable Sudanese feast for six of us including two vegetarians and one egg/wheat free. He and Daniel were so friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and genuine, all with fresh ingredients. Can't wait to visit again. Voir le carte

The wife, child (7) and I ate here before a trip to the Kings. We all had different wraps, 2 lamb and a chicken, followed by 3 different desserts between us. All were amazing at a great price. I had a coffee and it was very good. The guy (I assume the owner) was such a nice man, made sure there enough chilli to not too much for a various tastes, very friendly. My daughter wants to visit here, before anywhere when we are next in Edinburgh, love it.

Was in Edinburgh and I had time to kill, and after being on the go all day, was in need of something to eat. Looking at what was close, Khartoum Cafe took my fancy. Not a greasy kebab shop, but a rather nice little sit down cafe (that also does food to go) and for 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, it was really busy. Great choice of Vegan food, but their wraps are a must! Ordered the Falafal and Hummus wrap to go, and was freshly prepared in no time. Staff are VERY inviting, and if in the area again, I would come here for a sit down meal.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
