Honghong - Carte

"I am very happy that Honghong is in Garching (so with it in the north of Munich, because here I am in less than 10 minutes. From the ambience everything but classic Asian. The decor is bright, tables white with glass. The floor with tiles here is unfortunately already the one or the other tile. And also the look into the back with the curtain... looks strange first. However, it is also because the location is relatively small. And fresh flowers would be better than artificials. In the meantime, there are fresh flowers on the tables. Besides, candles are lit. Moreover, it is always very well visited at different times. Often you have to stand in the restaurant for a while without reservation to wait for a free table. Chef and boss always have both hands full to do, but still had a friendly smile or friendly word of excuse. Both have a very special charm I just like. The guests are mostly Asian, which made me personally even more curious about the food. I've tried almost the whole card in the meantime and I'm super enthusiastic. Everything tasted very fresh, very individual and above all most dishes come very much to my taste. Partly, the presentation is not quite ideal, but I find the taste more important. Some of them are also used as TK (low-cool products, which I find absolutely right at the prices. However, I do not find the specified sharpness very meaningful. My cucumber salad (Gurke, coriander, peanuts and chilischote 3,20€ has no indication of sharp and was really very sharp. Of course, I had expected some sharpness, but those who don't like to be sharp will not be happy with the salad. For me it was just the border (from the sharpness, but tasty without end. And the portion size was also great. The Saté Spieße did not quite convince me, I think they're getting kicked and are a bit dry. The fried noodle dishes are a huge portion and very favorable, but the meat content is very clear. There are also Thai and Chinese dishes. What is also a shame: At almost every visit the rice band noodles are out in the evening, it would be great if the evening would still exist. But if there isn't so much going on and you'll have to wait, then you'll be doing something extra. In the beginning it was still difficult to reorder something, but the more often one is there, the more flexible they become; beverage prices are also more than fair. Soft drinks 0.4l for 2,90€, juice choir 0.4l for 3,20€, bottle of water 5,20€. Conclusion: 5 stars! It may be that the location on other portals is only average, because some times the waiting time is quite long. And many have a different expectation regarding the taste of food because they know it differently from their favorite Asians. But I always compare it with a “German potato salad”. There are many different recipes for each region and each is original and authentic yet they taste different. The same applies to a Greek Zaziki or the like. From that point of view, I do not think it should be too high to screw up its expectations, or it should be determined from the outset, as it should or must taste. Just be open to new things. Otherwise, I don't need to test a new location; I find price/performance unbeatable here and after so many visits I have already tried a large part of the map and now know exactly what makes me happy here."
