"all those people who leave 1 star (or low star reviews) have either extremely high expectations or just have to be out to harm the call of a gem of a sandwich shop. I stopped yesterday, was late for lunch to my surprise and joy that they were still open, was a waiting queue to eat, so I might have been happy that they thought they would do 1 more order. I had the cheese-cutney sandwich couldn't resist the Scotch egg with black pudding. the Scotch egg was phenomenal, black pudding mixed with the sausage meat, a soft egg yolk practically still runny, which I really did not expect to add only to the already large aromene, the egg comes with a small pot homemade brown sauce (ketchup is an option, but I prefer brown soße) also the soße is a normal but it is a manifestation, it is a the sandwich was ineffective, thick-cut cheese on a homemade roll with homemade chutney (I suppose when everything else was made home) filled with fresh salad, I am curious what the difference between this is the ploughman’s, as it was in the round a ploughmans sandwich. the brot, cheese salad were all fresh taste amazing, the chutney transformed it, was like a cross between chutney salsa like the brown sauce was more sweet without much flavor, but really a great amount taste to what was possibly the best sandwich I had ever had! well made youngs, eating is great a try worth. reasonably also consider that it is the center of harrogate."

"Harrogate. What can I say. People here will put up with the average and pay a lot for it too. Well, you don't have to now. Nothing mind-blowing happening here but the pizza is adequate and the price is better than anywhere else so why bother buying a big pile from Bambino's whilst fighting off the drinks when you can have a relatively civilised conversation and a pizza that doesn't taste like shoe. Well done."

"First visit, just popped in for a hot drink. Very warm welcome from Laura on entering. Nice wood burning stove pushing out heat into the bar area. Quite busy for a thursday lunchtime, everyone seemed to be eating. Food looked amazing at it came out. Coffee was very nice. Booked for New Year's Eve, can't wait. 2nd visit. Attended NYE celebrations. Food was amazing, guitarist very good. Great service atmosphere. Definitely be rebooking for 2024. 3rd visit now. Went for lunch, very busy Friday lunch. Great lunch menu new winter menu. Some lovely dishes took ages to decide. Opted for prawn crab cocktail, king prawn tempura, mains we had haddock goujons duck breast, managed pudding for one Sticky Toffee Pudding. All the food was delicious. Can't praise the chef enough. As always looked after by Laura. We will return. Thanks. 4th visit. Another faultless lunch at The Malt Shovel. Lovely returning welcome from Laura. Great choice on the menu, no rush which we enjoy. Highly recommend liver onions , also Cajun Chicken sandwich and soup combo. Both meals arrived in due course, all freshly prepared, piping hot and very, very tasty. Hats off to James in the kitchen fo once again delivering 2 lovely tasting and presented meals. Already booked for upcoming birthday celebrations in May, might even squeeze in a Sunday lunch before then. Thanks again, Laura, James and the team at TMS. Sunday lunch on 7/4/24. Great roast lunch, lots of choice on menu. Recommend the malt mix choice of 3 meats from 4). All served with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese sauce, roast carrots parsnips, kale , gravy boat of gravy yorkshire pudding. Delicious. 6th visit. Birthday celebration lunch for 4. Arrived early, it was already busy. Shown to table 6 red1), plenty of room on table and around it. Nice choice on menu, we all decided on 1 course from lunch menu. Food arrived piping hot, very tasty indeed. Highly recommend fish goujons, pie of the day, cajun chicken sandwich. Looked after once again by James in the kitchen and Laura front of house. We will definitely back, new summer menu launches 1/6/24. Can't wait to sample it. Another lovely meal and experience, all under the eagle eye of Laura. Definitely worth a visit, but book as it's very busy. Thanks ."

"My husband and I visited on the first day restaurants could open post-lockdown. It was a brilliant experience! The staff were super friendly, the distancing measures were great with staff wearing masks and tables far apart and we felt very safe indeed. But most importantly, the food was delicious! We had the edamame starter and it was absolutely delicious (the sauce was to die for) and then shared a vegan burger and the vegan chilli. Both were very good and the portions were just right (not too big). Other tempting menu options were the tofu tacos, the Buddha bowl and the Japanese bowl. For dessert they have a vegan icecream sundae which you can choose your own toppings (all of them vegan except one) and a vegan brownie (this was out of stock). Their mint lemonade is also fantastic! All in all, it was a perfect evening. Their breakfast menu also looks fab so no doubt we’ll pop back for some vegan pancakes on Sunday!"

"second visit and was not disappointed, first was the lunch second dinner. beautiful personal large service and it was pretty busy as I think is the norm for them. the selection of food for vegetarian is very good, which helps me, often I am limited in the choice. eating was very tasty, portions were very good enough to choose wine. the venue is not huge and in the room in which we were, was a tad claustrophobic for me the tables are quite close to each other, so then it becomes quite loud. this is a “small” thing and my special “hang up” and would not stop me again. it has a very good call in harrogate and I am happy to go back. I would recommend the booking, I almost would not have and there is no possibility that we would have one!"
