"The food hall in the Rome rail station known as il mercarto centrale Roma offers great fresh food for all tastes together with Italian wine and a selection of beers all in one location, at very reasonable prices. We spent a few evenings soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying freshly cooked lamb shanks, stakes, antichi sapori washed down with a local chardonnay and rossa beer. It is very popular with the locals who we found to be very friendly."
