"Popped in here with my Fiancee for a couple of ice creams. Asked for 2 x 1 scoops of Vanilla after she pointed out that half weren't available... I asked for my second cone to be in a waffle, as they were only 50p...extra. She then asked a school girl to ring it through the till and told her it was a 1 scoop and a 2 scoop cone. I mentioned that I only asked for one scoop in each to which I was told I'm not filling it up anyway She then proceeded to break the cone. The child on the till gave me 20p back from a fiver, as I mentioned it should be 50p the lady serving the ice cream told her I was correct. Didn't even look at me once! I hope the owner of this shop is on holiday for a week as this lady really should't be there"

Great coffee, tasty panninis and fast wi-fi. Not a big place so quite cosy, and the locals are all friendly.

for years eating is great and homemade and the coffee is good. the staff is very friendly and the prices are good. I usually have the middle sea planner, or the scones are both very good.

we asked for lunch on the wet Sunday afternoon. during the time, the employees were pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed a roasted sandwich and a thun-fish sandwich with salat gland. good size teekanne and much more hot water. tables a little small and rugged, but otherwise everything was very good.

Called in here for a snack after visiting the castle nearby. The grand children had pancakes with Nutella and milk shakes....which they really enjoyed. My husband had carrot cake...a huge slice...unlike some portions you get! I had a tuna panini with salad....excellent tea and coffees!...Really enjoyed it!

Stopped off at Ashby, on way from S. Wales to N. E. England, in search of non-motorway services food and found a real gem in the Dolce Cafe. Had savoury scone with crispy bacon and Mediterranean tart between us. Both accompanied by coleslaw and salad....Food was really delicious and portions just right for a lunch. Coffee (flat white and latte) was also very good. It was very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely return when doing that journey again.

my wife and I were very impressed by this facility. diligent and attractive staff. to my critical eye, they seemed really well trained. a warm and fast welcome from them and good ambiente, busy but not too loud. faster service when considering that the dishes were ready to order. my wife liked her insalata caprese with buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. I had a wonderful mixed salad (my italian is not good enough to describe it in italain, but in french copieux et bien compos comes back to our next visit in ashby. highly recommended.

I can’t remember such a miserable person serving at a cafe. Who then forgot half my order and sat and had a break leaving the others to have to retake my order. Whilst we all make mistakes it’s the way things are handled. I noticed...that this place had only a few patrons whilst most others in town were very busy. I should have guessed why before taking s seat. What made the staff so miserable I will never know but it is off putting and you are made to feel unwelcome. Twice I had my order taken and when it did finally arrive it was still wrong. Salad not crisps! And my tea was cold. When i left the lady behind the counter didn’t acknowledge me leaving- too busy on her phone. Awful.

"Nipped in for a quick bite on a Friday evening. We went up to what looked like the restaurant bar and asked if it was possible to get a table but were directed to the main bar to ask about this. The place was packed- getting served at the internal bar would have been a bit of a fight. Had a similar experience on a visit here before because there's not much space around the bar so you tend to get an impenetrable crowd instead of any sort of line. Eventually managed to get the attention of a member of staff and were told the restaurant was fully booked, however we could sit outside and order food at the bar to our outside table. Would have saved us some time if that was communicated through the team and relayed by the first person we asked instead of sending us to queue elsewhere. We did order to an outside table, and the food was excellent. The small pizzas really are quite small. But if you have a couple of sides they're perfect to not overstuff you. If you want to just eat pizza probably get a large. Also they had really interesting topping selections on the pizzas- I had the spiced aubergine, creme fraiche and honey. It was absolutely delicious. The chips were hot and well seasoned, the greek salad also really nice- I did miss the addition of peppers and would possibly remove the pea shoots and sub in the peppers to improve this and keep it more authentic though. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere inside was quite cosy and outside had a nice vibe with the tasteful lightning and wooden furniture. Would definitely return (but probably make a reservation. It's busy for a reason!"

"We stayed for one night prior to a flight at East Midlands Airport and everything was excellent, from the warm, welcoming staff, to the rooms and the simply delicious food (evening and breakfast). Firstly the pub: food, drinks, restaurant… All excellent. The sign of a great pub for ale drinkers is one with knowledgeable staff who are keen to let you sample before deciding on a pint. This was the case here and we worked through all five real ales during the afternoon and evening! Also a great selection of wines, and everything served in the correct glasses I loved the attention to detail. Then the evening meal in the restaurant area of the pub: this was also excellent, with a great menu and top food, in plentiful portions. Really delicious all ‘round. We didn’t manage desserts but starters and mains all great. The pub/restaurant is well presented inside and out, with a lovely beer garden at the back. Secondly, the hotel rooms: we were in rooms 1 2 and both were lovely. They were well presented, comfy beds, nice hospitality tray (with fresh milk in the in room fridge), nice toiletries. The room rate included breakfast, which was all freshly cooked to order and once again, a great selection. I would 100% stay here again, especially if going to/from East Midlands airport which was less than a 10 minute drive. A lovely, traditional country Inn with excellent food and hospitality. Thank you to the full team."
