"As a barista, I take massive pride in what I serve to the public, dialling in an espresso recipe that will work for the uneducated coffee drinker to the coffee connoisseur. Then to strive to produce latte art and an experience to the customer after that. This is not the experience I had today at Coffee #1. Laughable name. This place’s coffee was not cared about. At all. The “barista” didn’t really seem to know what a flat white is even supposed to be. It was uncared about plonked on a saucer, poured milk into the espresso on the counter and while I’m at it, he had a thermometer in the jug and it was hotter than hell! Use your fingers as a gauge for crying out loud! A good flat white should be served drinkable! I get that no-one in this town knows any better but for me to contemplate Costa afterwards (which I didn’t go to) shows how low the standards are here. I wasn’t planning on it being another 12 years before I came back but maybe if it was another 12 then there might be somewhere in Bicester doing it right. Maybe."

I love this cafe and they do the best hot chocolate. But I was disappointed to find that they are not keeping up with the hygiene standards during covid 19. Tables were not clean as we sat down so had to clean it ourselves.

A great venue to sit and catch up with friends over coffee and cake. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and welcoming with plenty of beverages and food to choose from. Dairy free and other preferences available. Also dog friendly. There is usually a small queue to be served but it is worth the wait :

This is a family friendly coffee shop serving fantastic coffee and sweet treats. If sweat isn’t your thing then there is a selection of sandwiches for you to choose from. The staff are friendly. Dogs are welcome in this coffee shop. There are free dog treats available and a bowl of water is just a request away.

Visiting Bicester recently, I decided to give this place a try as I'd enjoyed the coffee at the Banbury branch a month or so ago. Although fairly busy, I couldn't complain with either coffee or cake; the coffee was satisfyingly strong and the cake was really fresh. For the price, it was well worth it and I would visit again if in the town. Voir le carte

I have visited on several occasions over the last few months and staff have made me welcome every time with a friendly greeting I’m sure they smile behind their masks. They make you feel a valued customer. Tea and hot chocolate are amazing. Pastries are very fresh and tasty. Millionaire shortbread is to die for it melts in your mouth, flapjack is so moist and tasty as well. Love to visit here.

Considering this is one of about 10 coffee shops in Bicester I would have thought the staff might make a bit of an effort. I was however, very wrong. The coffee here is rubbish and made by people who are more interested in gossiping and chatting between themselves that making the drinks food. I took my drink back as was tepid and watery, I was then faced by a man (who I assume was the manager) barking at me 'what 's wrong with it '. Never again

Biggest thing to compliment this place on is the customer service. I was very impressed with all members of staff serving on the 3 mornings I visited for a pastry and coffee breakfast whilst staying nearby. Friendly, efficient and I watched them acknowledge regulars by name. If I lived nearby this would definitely be my choice of place to go in Bicester. Coffee was very good. Had decaf flat whites, regular flat whites and a lovely piccolo coffee (slightly larger than a macchiato). Tasty range of pastries (I especially loved the raspberry croissant). Totally recommend you give it a try. Voir le carte

Having been here before during the week in work hours and the coffee was ok I decided to give it another go when visiting Bicester on a Saturday. The wait for an iced coffee and a tea was over 20 minutes with a queue out the door as they were massively understaffed. Having lived in London I am absolutely fine to wait in a queue for a popular place however the coffee was not good and no apologies were made. This could be a great coffee shop if they were adequately staffed over 7 people queuing left because of the wait. Disappointing as I recommended the coffee shop to a friend also from London. I would recommend walking a little further and going to another coffee shop.

Ordered toast and drink, apparently they ran out of toast and instead of cancel the order or contact me through the app like other restaurants, they just assumed I want the drinks and no food. Now I can’t just order food from other places because i don’t have time to wait another delivery and without the drink I am not hitting the minimum threshold for the order. Also I still got charged the whole amount of food and drinks, instead of refund £12 of food like other places, they kept the order and offer 1 free drink in my next visit. Scammers. Useless response when I tried to call, this small thing really ruin businesses one customer at the time Coffee#1 get better and at least train your staf...

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."
