"This is the third time I've given this a place a chance as sitting in on two occasions was terrible (even though we had booked weeks in advance, they had no selection left to choose from). We thought we'd give them one last chance with a mother's day collection to take away... We had ordered 7 meals on a Thursday to be collected at 3pm on a Sunday, but when we got there nothing was ready and had to wait 25 minutes. When we finally got home to sit down and eat, we fount only 5 meals and everything had to be cooked at home (not a take away). Having gone back to get the remainder of our meal the staff were less than helpful and the owner hadn't even apologised for the mix up. If we had known the food was to be cooked ourselves that would've been fine, but we were not told. However, having had 5 of the 7 meals (with no gravy) and no veg to go with a roast dinner, it was very disappointing. The redeeming factor of the experience was that the food itself was lovely, even though it was 50% cabbage..."

Excellent Sunday lunch again. Multi generational Family visit and everyone enjoyed the food. Very fresh food and the best we’ve had .

The food at The Vegan Jo is incredible, especially when enjoyed with their delicious peanut sauce. The service is outstanding and they do a great job communicating through social media. The added bonus of an NHS discount is fantastic.

A cosy, welcoming place on the edge of Ponty's park and handily on the Taff Trail. The friendly new owners have created the best burgers I've ever had (F.A.B. and the breakfast menu is really good too. Great place for meetings or chilling out.

I was really disappointed with this restaurant. They only offered breakfast options at lunchtime, and it was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had. The bacon was greasy and undercooked, making me feel queasy for the rest of the day. I heard they have new owners now, and it's such a shame.

We went to this restaurant for a birthday dinner and were disappointed by the unfriendly staff, limited menu with missing items, and unavailability of some starters and drinks. The burgers were average and starters below average. Additionally, we had to remind the staff to deduct our deposit from the total bill. Overall, we were expecting a fine dining experience but ended up at an average burger place with only three options on the menu.

Second time I’ve stopped here while cycling on the Taff Trail from Cardiff. This is a small cosy cafe just across a busy road from Ynysangharad Park. Previously just had a coffee: Recommend the cappuccino, excellent standard. This time, as a longer ride I needed to refuel on the return leg from Merthyr so decided to order food. Coffee excellent as ever, second time around and ordered a savoury waffle with cheese, eggs and sausage. Took a while to arrive surprisingly as only 4 other customers. However was pretty good standard fare and filled a gap. Staff were really friendly and may well call in again on future rides.

We have been here before and really enjoyed the food and the visit in general, this led to us booking a family evening to go for my daughters 19th birthday. Well, what can I say. We arrived just before 1930 expecting a lovely evening of food and drink only to be presented with a food menu containing only 4 burgers. When asked is there anything else available I was told by the very nice waitress we 've changed our menu on 1st October and now only do gourmet burgers . We left straight away very disappointed, this was a great alternative night out in ponty, now its just a burger place, we won 't be going back unless the menu improves. With only 2 other people there I don 't think I 'm the only...

We went to the Chain House for a birthday meal having read good reviews. However on the night we visited the menu was restricted to a cheeseburger, bacon burger, veggie burger and chicken strips with chips! There was no printed menu. We had to read the choices on the screen of the manager 's laptop. Very disappointing to start with but having ordered a cheese burger and veggie burger plus a starter of olives, we had to wait 45 minutes to be served as there was only one chef in the kitchen. The manager in the end waived the cost of the burger meals and only charged us for one round of drinks. He said that fine dining had been phased out to bring more people in on a burger menu. This also appl...

"My wife and I booked a table at the Cinnamon Tree on Tuesday for the Sunday early evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I checked their web site first before booking as the actual date was on the Monday. Finding out that they did not...open on Mondays we opted for the Sunday. I telephoned the restaurant and made the booking. the person on the other end of the telephone repeated my details and time date ect. We turned up at the restaurant to fined it was closed with a sign on the door stating that they did not open on Sundays and Mondays. We got back in the car and went to turn around at the back of the restaurant and I saw a door at the back of the restaurant open. I stopped the car and went to the door and found someone in the kitchen. I told them that I had booked a table for that night and he confirmed what we had found out with the notes on the door. He then telephoned the owners of the restaurant and he put me on the telephone and I spoke to the owners partner and she said they have not been open for several weeks owing to staff shortages. I asked the lady why the booking had been taken as the staff must be aware of when the restaurant is closed or open and I had gone by their web site. She replied we haven't bothered to up date our web site and will not be doing so and have not bothered to blank out Sundays on the book were the reservations are written in and just blamed the person that took the booking in the first place. Her attitude was I couldn't care less. At this point I was boiling as I have used the Cinnamon Tree for many years and have always had a good meal there. But after this episode they can go to hell I will never go there again."
