"The Tontine provides exceptional hospitality from the moment you step inside! You'll be greeted with a warm welcome and a genuine smile. Their seasonal cocktails are delightful, and the selection of wines and whiskies is outstanding! If you're the designated driver, you'll be pleased with the variety of non-alcoholic beers and mocktails available. I've dined here several times, and the menu is fantastic at any hour of the day. The food is freshly prepared, with locally sourced ingredients. I appreciate the menu's unique touches, and it's clear that the chef takes pride in the presentation of each dish. The rooms are stunning, making the Tontine a beautiful place to stay in the heart of Peebles."

"The takeaway food we had last night was terrible. The pakora was burnt and black, extremely hot, and impossible to eat. My chicken Malaya was watery, too sweet, and had a small portion of dry tandoori chicken. My husband's chicken curry was swimming in oil. We both suffered from upset stomachs overnight, despite only eating a small amount. We ended up throwing most of it away. Today, we both felt unwell with upset stomachs. Overall, it was a terrible experience and we will never be ordering from there again."

"Came in for dinner and ordered the salt and pepper ribs for starters: easily the best I've had. Words cannot describe, you'd have to try them. Followed that with the salt and pepper chicken and, again, some of the tastiest I've had. There's some kind of addictive chilli oil thing going on that's super tasty. Other half got the honey chilli chicken which was equally as scrumptious. Highly recommend : Service: Dine in"

"Visited this establishment whilst staying in Peebles for a few days. Arrived at approx 12.30, only one other customer in the place (a warning sign ? . No one acknowledged us but eventually one of the two staff asked us what we would like. Ordered two cakes, a cappuccino and a double espresso. After a while a staff member called out to us to collect our order from the counter. I was surprised that ,at nearly £20 for a couple of cakes and two coffees, they could not bring it to our table. My partner said that her cake was delicious, but mine was disappointing. I chose a Black Forest gateaux slice (yes I know, very 70s ! . The chocolate shavings on top were very good, the chocolate coating was too sugary and sticky. The cherry layer was excellent, sour with real cherries. The chocolate sponge however was poor, dense, heavy and tough. Either poorly made or very stale (made in the 70s for authenticity perhaps? . The espresso coffee languishing in the bottom of a large cup was bitter and tasted cheap. The service throughout our visit was indifferent bordering on frosty. Disappointing, particularly considering the excellent service that we received from other independent establishments in Peebles during our stay."
