"The Brown Cow comprises a bar and bistro. I would eat in the bistro regularly, and it is fantastic. They have a small but varied menu with something for all tastes, and they REALLY know how to cook their menu to perfection. A favourite of mine is the salmon, it is absolutely delicious and considering the high quality of the food, it is very fairly priced. I don't think the restaurant gets the attention it deserves, unfortunately, due to the reputation of the bar. It has a slight reputation locally as a bit of a rough place, and now because of the smoking ban, there are regularly crowds of people crowded out the front, which I imagine might put some people off. This said however, I have had a few drinks in the bar on numerous occasions, and not had any problems at all so I would definitely recommed this little gem!"

Bar is ok, pretty baisc and not very well decorated. The staff are nice, not overly-friendly but the food is amazing and really quite cheap. Some dodgy looking people hanging about though.

Unfortunately this place really doesn't attract the nicest crowd in the world, which is a shame as the food is grand. A friend had her meal interrupted by a band coming in after their parade, and generally being noisy and obnoxious. This place has potential but wouldn't appeal to everyone.

I had some food here recently. It doesn 't look very appealing from the outside If I 'm being honest however the food was very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I dare say the bar downstairs is not the most family orientated late on a weekend, and the general locality has a reputation for being somewhat 'rough ', but the establishment itself does a fine job.
