"We went to the Toskana Therme for the afternoon for my birthday, and then headed here after to try it out. Everything was really delicious and filling. They had two soups, one was vegan, so we ordered that. It was a tomato and eggplant creme with pesto and croutons. Then I ordered a cabbage roll filled with wild mushrooms, celery root/potato mash, and a red wine sauce. Not sure if any of the desserts were vegan because I was too stuffed to even see what they had. The restaurant overlooks the Elbe, so we went for a walk along the river path, which can be directly accessed from the restaurant. It has been snowing the past week, so everything looked very beautiful in the late evening. I can't wait to cycle back here in the summer from Dresden, as you can sit right outside by the river. You have to look for Hotel Helvetia when driving by, because there's no sign for the restaurant. The service was also really good!"

the variety and quality of vegan eating is fantastic if they don't make it, sit on only animal furs and skin chairs and kisses and watch lamp from cerebral veins.

restaurant im biohotel in schmilka. very good and beautiful location. there is a vegan menu with delicious food. at the desserts, a larger vegan offer would have been great. but there was a great breakfast and salad buffet with a lot of choice. Unfortunately, as a vegan in the hotel you are confronted with animals in the rooms.

Located at the German-Czech border on the banks of the Elbe River. A few well identified Vegan options on the menu including Desert. Great outdoor seating along the river path. Accessible from S-Bahn from Dresden stops across the river from the town and a short ferry ride or along the Elbeweg bike path. (I biked from Dresden 60km up the river path.

I ate here with three people who were not vegan, and everyone loved eating. there were several marked vegan items on the menu, and a large salatable and dessert bar with mostly vegan items. there was also a brothable, with really good broth. I had vegan garlic cream suppe and the salat bar. the environment is quiet and very welcoming. the beach is located on the shores of the Elbe River, with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and rock formations. We went there after a nice bike ride from Dresden to the Czech boarder. They had a vegan soup, three vegan main dishes and vegan sorbet for dessert on the menu. They also serve Lammsbrau Dunkle Weiße which is our favorite non-alcoholic beer. We shared a soup, and both had a different main dish. The sorbet we choose as dessert was Apfel-Sanddorn, it was very tasty. Compared to Berlin where we used to live I would say it is rather expensive but I find all the restaurants that have vegan options in the area of Dresden and surrounding seems to be like that.

This restaurant has a beautiful location, right along the Elbe River and at the riverside of the national park. The village of Schmilka is a surprising hub of organic food, with some vegan options. Strandgrun for example is the restaurant of the vegetarian Helvetica hotel. Strandgrun is the fanciest vegetarian restaurant we found in the area and the most refined dishes. They offered several interesting dishes including a vegan crème brulee with mango. We enjoyed cabbage roll filled with bell pepper and mushrooms, and a vegan gyros platter. These dishes were good but the taste was also not very special. Thus, a perfect spot to end or start a hike as you can enjoy their refined food and relax...

"This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It has both inside and garden seating and seemed to be popular as there were many people dining here. The garden was through the archway at the back of the property and was quiet so we decided to give it a try. In Germany you seat yourself at restaurants and we found a table for two and sat down. The wait staff was prompt with the drinks order and we spent some time purusing the menu. However, it became clear that this menu was the same one we had been seeing at any other restaurant we had been to while hiking in this part of Germany. Did the restaurants just photocopy this menu and send it around?? After awhile using our translator was not necessary as we knew all of the menu choices - same soups - same salads and mains. So rather boring but allowed a good comparison between different establishments. So.... I ordered the Goulash and my husband ordered the Sojanka soup and chef salad. There is also a wonderful wild berry dessert which he ordered and I decided to go for the usual apfel struddel with icecream and whip cream. The service is relaxed in most restuarants and no one is in a hurry to rush meals to your table. This allows for a leisurely meal. Our dinners arrived and were good - but not great. My goulash was hot but it was not that flavourful - not spicy at all. It came with 'dumpliing' like bread - which was really great - but again this is the standard accompaniment for this dish at any other restaurant also. My husbands soup was fine but not as good as we had it elsewhere and the salad was fine with a variety of ingredients but the dressing was all at the bottom of the bowl. Dessert was a disappointment with the berry dessert being something akin to blueberry jam and not what was expected. My struddel was ok but the crust was a bit tough. The ambience of the restaurant terrace was nice and the service was good. I was expecting more from this restaurant based on the recommendation. It was adequate but not stellar."
