Lovely food at the Swan. Friendly staff and attentive. Thanks all for a lovely evening.

The Fish and chips, poor, chips hard fish cold in the middle, saving grace they gave me a refund

Don't know, as I had a drink in the visitors' lounge. Lovely furnishings and good fire in very old hearth. Unusual view of Cathedral Green and a tower Voir le carte

We have had 2 three course evening meals over our stay and all were presented nicely, cooked perfectly and very tasty indeed. The reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

We were staying nearby for one night and popped into the bar to see if they had a menu. As they also had a lounge with a wood fire this seemed an ideal spot to have a meal and a drink then relax with our coffee before returning to our gloomy hotel! My salmon and noodles was delicious.

Fabulous location. Nice coffee. Very disappointed as had to wait 1 hour for food. Eventually went inside and asked. Egg sandwich that finally arrived was made from reconstituted egg. Tasted revolting. Husband s ham and mustard sandwich was ok. Not enough staff for 'eat out to help out ' scheme. Voir le carte

I wasn't overly impressed with the evening meals. First night cold plates with areas of cold veg as if plated earlier and rest put on when ready. Dessert tart I was unable to get my fork through let alone eat the pastry although the filling was OK. The other days only problem was very Al dente veg which sometimes couldn't get fork into. Did improve by night 4.

The quality of the ingredients were not what we expected for the price we were paying. I deliberately asked not to have the pepper sauce only to be served a steak covered in pepper. The waiter took it back but the chef said that was how he seasoned it. We then had to wait another 5-10 minutes for mine whilst my wife had finished her meal entirely. Not a good evening.

My partner and I were incredibly impressed with our overnight stay at The Swan Hotel. Food was tasty, drinks were great and the decor had recently been updated and looks smashing. One small pointer is the seating in the bar – most of the seating is good but the window boxes aren't the right height for the table and could do with foot supports. We've been to a fair few places since lockdown has lifted and have noted the consistent rustiness of staff in bars/restaurants. This is NOT the case with The Swan where we were made very welcome and staff were friendly, professional and swift; particular shoutout to staff member Leeroy who went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant.
