"We hadn't been to the Armenian Taverna for a few years. There is now some unattractive building work at the street level but once you go down to the restaurant it is as welcoming and atmospheric as we remember. I made particularly good choices of food this time. My borsch was a good warming starter for a cold Saturday evening and the Armenian goulash was excellent more reminiscent of a Lancashire hotpot than a Hungarian goulash but with rice! I really enjoyed my meal. My wife's meal was unremarkable and she was somewhat disappointed. Our meals were quite expensive, coming to £70.50 for two starters, two main courses, two beers and a bottle of sparking water."

I had planned to visit this restaurant last Valentine's Day, but it didn't work out. Luckily, I was able to finally dine here last night.

"Excuse me, do you know someone called Barouyr Der Haroutounian?" I wasn't even ashamed to ask the question and the answer was irrelevant.

This restaurant is a traditional ethnic eatery with influences from Armenia, offering dishes similar to those found in Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The atmosphere is filled with nostalgic memories of the region, making it a unique dining experience.

The restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating towards my vegan dietary needs. It was my first time trying Armenian cuisine, and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors, even though I usually prefer spicier dishes. Overall, the dining experience was worth the visit and the journey. Voir le carte

We happened upon this well established Armenian restaurant at the heart of Manchester on a recent visit, and we’re not disappointed. The menu is a great mix of traditional Armenian dishes. We enjoyed excellent grilled meats (the mixed plate was very substantial and tasty), delicious Ararat pies, a generous soup and flavoursome dolmas. The wine list has extensive Armenian and Georgian wines, most by the glass (though do taste them first if you are going by the glass). With sparkling water and dessert our bill for two including service came to just over £100.

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
