"We were staying in an apartment just around the corner and had passed the Aero many times on our way back and it was always very busy, so for the last night of our holiday we decided to treat ourselves and eat there. The Aero...is in the heart of the upmarket area called Passy in the Arr just over the bridge from The Eiffel Tower, and as such is full of well heeled locals, but surprisingly very few tourists. The restaurant is attached to the Aero Hotel and has a reasonable inside seating area and a large semi-covered outdoor terrace, which with both of us being smokers and the weather hitting the low we decided on. There are about tables outside with around waiters to cater for them. The waiters were continually busy and had an air of superiority about them (as would be expected in an establishment such as this) but I found that if you just let this attitude fly over your head, and treated them with firm politeness, then you would get served promptly and efficiently. Anyway we found a table and sat down, after minutes of looking at the passing waiters and being ignored, I used the firm and polite approach and we were served our beers within a few minutes. We both wanted to eat the classic Burgundy dish Boeuf Bourguignon, but the menu stated that it came with noodles, I grabbed (not literally) the waiter as he passed and asked if we could substitute the noodles with potatoes and he said no problem and took our order. The food arrived within minutes and initially looked like a child’s portion, but after starting to eat we realised that one portion would have filled us both up. The bowls of sautéed potatoes contained about halved potatoes, and The Boeuf Bourguignon at least large chunks of Beef along with The Bacon, Mushrooms and Carrots? In a rich Red Wine Sauce, this was accompanied by a basket of fresh bread. Even though the meat was meltingly soft and the sauce delicious we struggled to finish just over half. The atmosphere was relaxed and with no hassle from the waiters to finish up and leave our table, I had a few ciggies and a Kir Sauvignon to finish up with. When we asked for the bill it was all in which I thought was very reasonable for the quality of the food and the location (think Mayfair in London). On reflection this is not the greatest restaurant in Paris, but if you are in the Passy area then you could do far worse than spending a few hours sat here watching the world go by whilst nursing an expensive, but well worth it, beer."
