"Wow. Where do I start. It is a rare occasion for me to write a bad review, but I felt the need to warn others, as this cafe left a sour taste. So, grab a cuppa and make yourself comfortable, this is a doozy. First impressions, it is like walking into your hoarder nannas house, full of very odd mismatched items, all gathering dust, with some fake candle sets etc for sale, very strange. We were ‘greeted’ on entering by a very abrupt portly older woman (server), who seemed to be annoyed that we had the audacity to ask for a table, she signposted us to two tables of two (we were a family of three adults and a child). We said we didn’t mind being separated on the two tables, to which a couple sat at a table for four then said, “we can move” and immediately the server abruptly shouted at the couple “no!”. I felt very sorry for the couple, we didn’t expect anyone to move, but the way this woman snapped back at the mere idea of someone moving, was unreal. Anyway, at this point, I was ready to walk out, but we were ready for something to eat and the sign outside said fresh crab sandwiches, which my dad was looking forward to, so we persevered. Thankfully a younger blonde female came out to take our order, she was much more friendly and we relayed our order. Well, chaos ensued. The portly older server was back, who slammed down my mothers coffee order (which was incorrect) and the rest of our drinks with such venom, my little niece asked “why the lady was so mean”. BTW. Before we go any further, if you want a decent coffee or tea for that matter, avoid this place. They don’t do it. The coffee is instant and the tea is disgusting. The food came, it was mediocre. At least the order was correct. The children’s chicken nuggets and chips was better than the crab sandwich, which was not worth the £8.95 price tag. The atmosphere of the place, you could cut with a knife, it was like sitting waiting for a toddler to kick off. The entire time, the same older server was rude to other customers that had the audacity to enter the cafe and ask if tables were free and one couple got a short shrift reply when asked if they could sit in for cake and coffee, no, out with you! You can only sit in if you want food. The older server stomping up and down, in and out of the kitchen like a mopey teenager. It was almost comical, it was like satire (see Graham R review from June 2022 on TripAdvisor it played out in front of us, I even mentioned Faulty Towers at the time). We finished up and paid for what we had, never to return. Appalling service and mediocre food. Save yourselves the hassle, drive up to the Cosy Tearoom at Alnmouth, they do a fabulous crab sandwich and the servers are much friendlier. God speed!"
