"Our friends took us to little village of Barri Pla de Corrals over the mountains from Simat as they had dined here previously and had been impressed by the Menu del Dia. We arrived just after midday with only one other table occupied but within half an hour it was almost full. The wall posters of various British German beers suggested a local ex pat community but there was no written menu other than the handwritten notes on the waiters order pad so speaking Spanish and a bit of knowledge of Valenciana a distinct advantage. Thankfully our friends possessed the language skills to explain the verbally announced contents of the 3 course lunch menu. Plate 1 a choice of courgette soup, oven baked meat with chickpeas, roast pork with plums or gazpacho all with a generous side salad of tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, sweet white raw onions and pickled pimentos. Plate 2 a choice of pan fried hake, pan fried tilapia, oven baked pork or another dish that we failed to translate. Desert a choice of chocolate brownie (which they ran out of before we ordered), chocolate mouse, lemon pie or fresh fruit. Half bottle of wine per person was thrown in with plates 1 2 and coffee followed on from desert. All of the above dishes were absolutely delicious with quite generous portions and all for the princely sum of €8.50 each and as we were in the know we each got a voucher to save for future visits where 10 vouchers entailed you to a free menu del dia. We even asked for an extra 2 glasses of wine and the waiter brought out another bottle which did not appear on the bill. Outstanding value, great friendly host, good atmosphere added to my music from a retro looking getto blaster shame the disco lighting wasn't switched on. WHAT A FIND!"
