"However, I wouldn't recommend visiting during the day. They offer cake and coffee for £3, but the drinks were lukewarm, and the piece of cake was so small that even kids would be disappointed. It was a tiny slice of Waitrose's finest—lovely as it is—but I could buy an entire cake for less and enjoy it much more! What is a great venue at night feels dark and dreary during the day. The stacked tables, made from old beer barrels, come off as an afterthought.
The whole cake and coffee concept should either be executed well or not at all. Given what’s offered, I think it’s not worth opening during the day; the owner likely spends more on utilities and staffing than they make. However, if they need daytime staff, I’d be more than happy to take a job just to sit and chat with friends in the beer garden—it sounds delightful!
It's a shame because this place has so much potential if given some thought. We ended up leaving and went to Costa to get a hot drink instead. I gave it three stars solely for the nighttime experience, but the day visit really brought the overall rating down."
