"We have had gelato all over Italy and Europe and this is some of the best, if not the best we have had! During our time in this region with our young family, we made a point to come here each of the two days we came to Rothenburg. You can tell that the gelato is made with all natural ingredients- no coloring or chemicals. The owner was clearly passionate about their product and gave us excellent recommendations both times we came. The peach tasted like it was just picked! And the combination of chocolate ginger, hazelnut, and pistachio was out of this world. Our girls loved picking out sundaes created just for kids. Stop here for a break during your time in Rothenburg!"

"We came after breakfast and the coffee and bread was good. However, outdoor seating was limited (four tables) and difficult to get seating. The inside has good seating but can get a little stuffy during the summer. All in all, worth a visit and, based on the other reviews, go in the morning for breakfast!"

"Looking around the town for somewhere we hadn't already tried, we came across Butz in a side street. Easy to overlook, as their main entrance is on a small square off the main drag. Very busy inside, we were lucky to get a seat (on...a Monday in September), so try to book. My wife and I both opted for the zwiebelrostbraten a very lean steak in a beer gravy, topped with crispy fried onions. My came with spaetzle whilst my wife chose the bratkartoffeln (pan fried potatoes) with hers both were first class. A generous salad came with each meal too. Probably the best meal we had in weeks touring Germany. Good service, and a wide range of drinks too. Highly recommended."

"Wir waren am Samstag Nachmittag mit einer größeren Gruppe zum Vespern da. Ich kann nicht sagen ob es abends eine andere Karte gibt, aber während unseres Aufenthalts gab es Wurst- und Käsebrote, Salate, Pizza und natürlich Kuchen. Das wäre ja an sich für einen Nachmittagssnack ganz ok, aber der Mini-Pizzaofen der zum Fertigbacken der vorgefertigten Pizzas aufgestellt war, konnte natürlich keine größeren Kapazitäten bewältigen. Die Speise- und Getränkepreise waren für "Selbstbedienung" eher gehoben, insbesondere auch die Antialkoholika. Das wäre alles noch keinen Beitrag wert, da man sich ja in einem erklärten Touristengebiet für In- und Ausländer befindet. Als dann aber ein Junge aus unserer Gruppe nach einer 3/4 Stunde nach seiner Pizza fragte, stellte die Dame aus der Küche fest, dass man die vergessen hat. Entschuldigung? Fehlanzeige! Sinngemäß kam dann "Damit muss man leben können! Das ist halt so, so ist das Leben!" Glücklicherweise stand die Mutter des Jungen in Hörweite. Wahrscheinlich wollte die Damen aus der Küche dem 13-jährigen "pädagogisch wertvoll" vermitteln was "Enttäuschung" heißt ... Bravo!"

"Andato seguendo le recensioni di trip, che però omettono a mia avviso qualcosa, almeno per noi italiani.Per quanto riguarda la cucina, la stessa è ottima, prodotti freschi e ben cucinati, ma ci sono dei nei che non mi faranno mai ritornare in questo posto:- la prenotazione è ambigua, mentre eravamo dentro entravano degli avventori e veniva mandati fuori, anche se i tavoli erano liberi, mentre orientali e russi trovavano posto anche senza prenotare.- il menù è di sole 6/7 portare tra zuppe, antipasti e secondo, praticamente zero scelta. Ma non è del tutto vero in quanto c'è una voce nella lista, "piatto della casa" che non ha prezzo e che in realtà ti da altre 7/8 scelte di cibi diversi, peccato che il conto alla fine viene fuori salatissimo se ovviamente si scelgono questi piatti senza prezzo, leggete anche altri commenti sotto in merito a questo argomento.- in ultimo guardacaso non accettano carte di credito e non rilasciano ricevuta, semplicemente per poter sfilare più mancia possibili a tutti i clienti.Cibo buono, locale molto bello, ma non ci ritornerei mai."

"Ursprünglich wollten wir (Veganer) uns Sushi mit nach Hause nehmen, dann kam uns aber, dass der Subway auch einige vegane Kombinationen anbietet. Diese haben wir bis jetzt noch nie probiert. Da ich früher schon total auf Subway gestanden habe, wollten wir es also wagen und sind ins Lokal gegangen, um uns zwei Subs zum Mitnehmen zu bestellen. Die Mehrheit an Produkten im Subway ist ohnehin vegan und dazu gibt's derzeit noch drei vegane Fleischalternativen. Wir haben zwei davon probiert (das Meatless Chicken Teriyaki und Plant-based Philly Beef hot). Beides war gut und auf jeden Fall einen Probierer wert. Veganen Käse gibt's natürlich auch dazu. Diese Filiale bot mir tatsächlich die doppelte Menge Käse an, da meine Freundin keinen drauf wollte . Der uns bedienende Mitarbeiter, Dani, ist auf jeden Fall lässig drauf gewesen und hat die Wartezeit hierdurch angenehm gestaltet. Zwar sind die veganen Kombinationen nicht seine persönlich favorisierten, aber er hat uns gerne dabei beraten . Zum Abrunden haben wir uns noch drei Double chocolate Cookies gekauft, die auch schon immer vegan sind, was mich durchaus überrascht hatte. Ich finde es kommt einem Armutszeugnis nahe, dass man bei den meisten Bäckern nichts Veganes (außer einfältigen Gebäck) kaufen kann. Deshalb bin ich immer froh darüber, wenn einem etwas Auswahl geboten wird. Alles in allem können wir nach dem Verzehr behaupten, dass es sich gelohnt hat die Subs gegenüber dem Sushi vorzuziehen! "

"Ratsstube reminds me of an old up kept hunting lodge restaurant. The restaurant has charm. It 's perfect for the manly man in me, -ugh, ugh, ugh, hunt meat-. It will put vile thoughts into vegans and animal activist. I am a proponent of a healthier body and animal rights/humaneness. But if you have any persona of Tim The Toolman Taylor from the show Home Improvement in you, you will like this restaurant. That sets the theme in eating here. There 's half a dozen antlers hanging on the wall. The menu has an image of what 's look like a cougar or a lioness on it. Yum, roast cougar/lioness. I 'm from New York City. I can 't walk into any Bordega and say yo give me half a pound of deer . Of course venison meat can be fount in NYC but I digress. So that 's what I order: Hirschgulasch, Venison Meat. It 's not delightful but it was good. I hope it wasn 't hit by a car and humanely put out. Sorry, it was on the menu and it was a choice seldom available in my diet or meat I seek out. It 's a very flavorful dish, I could taste the spices, the wine, the meat itself and enjoyed it. However, it was a bit chewy, not so tender, is deer meat suppose to have a lack of tenderness? It was also accompanied by coffee and a side of round potato dumplings that were very good. My hats off to the chef. Our waiter was polite as can be, we left a decent tip. I asked him how customary is it to tip in Germany as I asked another waiter in a different restaurant and both told me the same, it 's up to the patron. Not like America where one is now force to pay 20% tip in some restaurants for bad service. Great service, cool dining environment and good food, good going Ratsstube! They also have some decent dessert and coffee. And the beer selection is about a handful of regional beers from Germany. You 're not finding Budweiser here, which is what makes it authentically classic old world. The restroom is, well the men 's restroom, is small. If you see your male friend go to the restroom and you are a man then you might want to wait to avoid a sausage fest. There is also a cigarette vending machine in the back for that terrible habit."

"Das ist eine Änderung meiner erster Bewertung, weil ich im Hauptmenu dreierlei Bratwurst für EUR 9,50 gesehen hat, und das fälschlicherweise als EUR 10 geschrieben habe.Das Restaurant hat eine tolle Geschichte, vielfältiges zum Essen und trinken und einen gut platzierten Biergarten. Service war auch okay. Aber wir könnten den Gefühl nicht los, dass die Qualität des Essens nicht so hoch als die (sehr hohe) Preise war. Ein Glas Wein ab 5 Euro, Wurst ab xx EUR. Dazu kam, dass (unsere Meinung nach) einfach zu viele Tische im Garten stand. Mein Fleisch war trocken, und das Salat meiner Frau war schlapp.Unsere Meinung nach eine klare Touristen Falle.Dazu kam einen Antwort von der Geschäftsführer, gleich mit eine Drohung dass er mich zum Gericht nehmen wird wenn ich meine Beitrag nicht ändere. "Considering Germany Italian restaurant is good. But honestly the Pizza taste and quality of bread is no where near to Italy. Having said that, in Rothenberg may be u will not get better pizza pasta compared to this restaurant. Hope this helps to choose your right foot choice when u r at Rotterdam. Another point to be added: Basic food i.e. French fries is missing from menu, kids likes this a lot, in fact when nothing is there which kids like, this saves us many time. Requesting the restaurant to find a way to add this to your menu."

"I don't write reviews as much as I should, but when I see fellow countrymen leave poor reviews, I feel I need to give me input (to counterbalance these arrogant travelers). The atmosphere, food and service were very enjoyable. Even with two picky eaters, we...had a great meal. If you love the potato, you will enjoy this place. I hope all that see negative reviews on places do what I do and check out what else these people review and how. "Had lunch course outside. Absolutely recommend outside because ambience is very nice. At the reception desk when we walked in, the waitress behavior was somewhat impolite, like asking "Why you guys are here ?" , so my wife had to reply "We're here for lunch". I was little embarrased but just kept it by myself, because I didn't want to ruin my trip. Why would we be there except for lunch ? However, the rest of their service was not bad. Except at the end. the waitress made a mistake of giving me the wrong bill, so I had to pay twice. But that was just a mistake. Everything including soup was fine except the main, which was dorade. Dorade required more work. In the middle of the meal, they give you sherbet, which was refreshing experience. I knew that in French course they provide sherbet in the middle of the meal, but my colleague was surprised."

"Wir sind in die Schranne gegangen, weil sie direkt an unserem Parkplatz lag und unser Lokal Ruhetag hatte. Der erste Eindruck war nicht so ergreifend , da alles etwas muffig roch. Ich hatte Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat, mein Mann, Cordon bleu mit Kartoffelsalat. War alles super lecker.Der Salat war super gut angemacht und alles frisch. Der Baccus ist sehr zu empfehlen.Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Essen kam relativ schnell.Beim nächsten Besuch in Rothenburg werden wir da wieder vorbeischauen."

"We had just arrived into town and we really wanted some spätzle. The reviews for this place seemed decent enough so we decided to give it a go.The first warning sign perhaps should have been the cold sterile LED lighting and the fact that the place was empty aside from an old couple at dinner time. But we stayed anyway.The second warning sign should have been when we ordered beers, they all had a noticeable off flavor (my pilsner smelled like egg salad) - a sign of contamination. It was perhaps the only place in our two week trip across the entire Germany where we didn't finish our beer. But we ordered anyway.Literally nothing went well after that. They were out of several items on the menu. At one point the entire restaurant was permeated with the smell of cigarette smoke. The kitchen staff was arguing loudly enough for us to hear them. The place was so uncomfortably quiet that we could hear the old couple crunching through their pork hock from two tables away. Food took over a half hour to arrive even when we were the only other people there. The sauces were generally one dimensional and salty. The meats were overcooked. Their namesake spätzle was mushy and overcooked. My friend's steak was accompanied by half a plate of plain and bland spätzle.The waitress was perhaps the single slightly bright spot. She was friendly and checked up on us several times and generally did a fair job. But I don't think there was saving this meal. I just don't get it. I would never eat here again. We're we eating at a different restaurant from the one all the positive reviewers were eating at?"

"Had a wonderful lunch at this authentic Indian restaurant. Had duck vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. Both were superb. The lunch came with soup (also very good) and good rice. Vooraf een salade die uit niet veel meer bestond dan sla met overdreven veel dressing en balsamico, een paar stukjes tomaat en één belegen olijf. De schnitzel was oké, de kip was mals maar overgoten met te zoute saus. We hadden honger en we hebben hier onze maag kunnen vullen met middelmatig voedsel aan een middelmatige prijs."

"It was a couple of hours away from Frankfurt, so we were ready to park the car on the property and take in the quaint town a stone's throw away from the inn. Our room was the largest of our entire trip! And it was a room for four of us--two parents, two adult children--still quite spacious. None of the beds we encountered in Europe were as good as home, but they were workable. The staff downstairs was excellent--friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, too…lots of choices. We would definitely return."

Les charcuteries sont faites maison et ça se sent - elles sont succulentes - et la dégustation de vins blancs franconiens est à 5,60 € (5x5cl)...très bonnes Maultaschen également. Petit bémol sur la crème de vin en dessert: c'est bon mais ce n'est comparable à un zabaione au Marsala servi chaud. Personnel aux petits soins!"

"We had been here a number of different times to eat in the last 3 years of living here in Germany and it had never failed to please us before, the service was friendly and timely. We went just yesterday and it was our last time going to Rothenburg before we move back stateside, it was busy, so we went inside hoping for a great last meal. We sat down and waited for our drink orders to be taken, and the server came out, apparently then noticing I was American and promptly turned around and went into the kitchen asking if anyone spoke englisch (ok he was afraid I knew NO german, I get it), but I CAN order in German, Sprechen zi kleine deutsch! Anyway, he came back out and I proceeded to order (albeit not in PERFECT german, but I was getting names of the food right), we had a little glitch but I thought it went smoothly, I ordered one drink for each member of my family and 3 meals (since neither of our children will eat a full meal themselves). We waited about 10 minutes and got our drinks, 20 minutes later, the people who came in about 5 minutes after us got their food, and food was FLYING out the door, 30 minutes, still no food, but food was flying by us to other tables and the waiter had time to seriously flirt with two asian girls in the restaurant, 40 minutes later, the waiter comes out and says "2 more minutes", my hubby is ready to put money down for the drinks and leave, about 5 or so minutes later our food comes out, literally as we are getting ready to pay for our drinks and leave. So we decided (as our children were both irritable and hungry) to stay, no explanation as to why we were pretty much THE last family to be served in the restaurant until after he picks up our plates. He then explains, in PERFECT english (I fully didn't expect it, honestly) that he got confused and that I had told him we wanted 4 plates of sausages (ummmmm NO...I did not!) supposedly that's why our food took so long, however it was all hot when it came out, even our children's kinderschnitzel und pommes (so needless to say it had NOT been prepared in a decent time and our order probably got buried). If we had time to go back we would not return to the Goldenes Lamm. We have never been made to feel so SUBLEVEL human as we were made to feel yesterday. I was SOOO disappointed, this very much used to be our "go to" restaurant, the food really wasn't even as good as it used to be, not too sure what happened there, but the changes they have made have not been for the better."

"My husband and I stopped in for a pizza lunch while on a river cruise. The restaurant is quaint and even during the day, romantic. Great service, great ambiance, hot, fresh pizza (not New York but very good) with cold beer. Our waiter was friendly...and polite and provided us with excellent service. He offered to take our photograph so we have a nice souvenir of our lunch. A great place to stop. Reasonably priced. Credit card minimum is $20."
