"Went yesterday with a couple of friends expecting a wonderful lunch and pleasant atmosphere, as was the case on numerous previous occasions, only to be greeted with an empty restaurant (red flag 1 . We walked up to the bar to ask if they were open and were told yes, and to go sit wherever, menus are on the left, come order and pay at the bar because there is no table service as it 's apparently 'fully booked ' even though it was empty save for one other table (red flag 2 . We chose a table (which looked like it hadn 't been wiped down properly red flag 3 , looked through the menus and went to order I wanted the mixed meat Sunday roast (beef, pork, chicken and lamb only to be told it comes up as 'Three meat roast ' on the till and the price was different from the menu (red flag 4 , when I queried why that was the case the woman serving us went to the kitchen to 'double check ' only to come out again and say the till is programmed differently (red flag 5 . Person serving us obviously did not know how to operate till, did not know how to talk to customers and was very short with us despite having an empty restaurant (red flag 6 . My friend ordered food and a cup of tea which came up on the receipt as 'flat white ' (red flag 7 . Went back to our table to wait for food, which arrived relatively quickly but the meat was LUKEWARM, the potatoes were UNDERCOOKED and portion sizes had massively reduced, and when friend queried why the tea hadn 't arrived yet halfway through the meal was told they were just 'starting up the machine ' (to boil water for tea??? . We ate what we could and left the rest thinking we 'd get food poisoning, and left quickly friend never received that tea she paid for. Found out later that the restaurant is now under new management as the original owners had closed it down in May due to rising costs, and new owners clearly have no hospitality experience and are living off of the restaurant 's previous excellent reputation I doubt this place will survive much longer considering how awful the food and experience are!"

"I simply don 't write reviews unless a venue truly deserves it...and this one certainly does. A pre christmas family meal for 5 covering 3 generations so like any good father of a troublesome 2 year old...I did my menu research and knew before we arrived what we were going to devour. I have an addiction to anything with the words 'honey roasted ' in the title and the carrots took no exception to this rule whilst I was salivating over the elegant depiction of the lamb shank and its vegetable ensemble. Starters arrived with the wine. The Rioja tasted like silk and my tomato soup was perfect. All seemed fine and cozy with just enough elegance from the venue and its surroundings to make it feel more than just your typical village pub. Then the same main arrived for 3 of us. Slow Braised Lamb Shank, Creamy Mash, Honey Roast Carrots, Broccoli, Red Wine Sauce £18 The lamb shank, placed in the center of the dish , on a bed of mash, with a couple of carrots and broccoli dotted around the circumference. I admit I punch above my weight with my partner, so I have had to wine and dine her in some of the finest and not so fine restaurants to make her see the light. I consider myself very experienced in paying a lot for good food. So when I am presented with a boiled sliced carrot on my plate, with no hint of a sticky glaze or roasted glory.... I find myself in a predicament. My food excitement has gone, I 'm annoyed and I am seeking answers. I ate both carrots and both pieces of broccoli and still found myself with a very large piece of semi chewy meat and a lot of mashed potato. There was very little gravy so the mash was quite dry by the time I had eaten half of it and there was very little to no red wine running through it. So here the fun begins. I point out to the young waitress that the carrots were boiled. She states she will speak to the chef and find out. Whilst salivating over the prospect of deserts , I notice on two occasions staff walk towards us then walk away. I then got an answer which was just I 'm sorry we will not make the mistake next time This made me furious! Great, so the next person who comes in and orders the same dish today will get honey roasted carrots ?! So I decide to speak directly to the staff near the bar highlighting the errors in the menu and (on a £155 table bill) diplomatically asked for £5 per meal reduction to compensate for our culinary catastrophy. The chef made eye contact with me and he said I 'm sorry I did 'nt realize, we were just really busy As far as I could see we were the only people dining at the time! Then the manager came from around the corner and startled me as I was holding my 2 yr old. Without any introduction or apology his first words were Ive took a fiver off the bill I have had an extensive career in conflict management and customer service. I have never seen anything like this. It was rude, abrupt, with no empathy. Im not taking more than a fiver off , its just carrots . He emphasized. I pointed out it ruined 3 plates of food. In the end I just paid the bill and left. I 'm told that it was now under new recent management and it was not like this before. I would never eat here again and the whole staff need to take a course in customer relations."

"A real gem in the heart of Nottingham! Visited for the first time this evening me and my partner, with it being often coming up on Google we thought we should give it a try. From the outside this unassuming restaurant would be easily missed by those passing by and to those people I would say unlucky you! The restaurant inside is a mix of traditional and homely setting with a nice pagoda entrance leading you to your table, upon arrival the waiting staff were super friendly and welcoming and lead us to our table. We ordered a vegetarian platter which was full of flavour and choice, for £13 we were spoilt with choice from delicious tender spring rolls, sweetcorn fritters, samosas and fried vegetables and golden parcels, each brimming with flavor and beautifully presented, all came with a delicious selection of dips to accompany. The main courses came soon after, a beef Penang curry and red chicken curry, both absolutely brimming with flavour and taste, the meat was tender and juicy and delightful from the start to the last mouthful, the coconut rice was also full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was super friendly, there was a small error with a meat starter instead of veggie but they quickly remedied and gave us warmth and friendly warmth throughout our meal, for just shy of £50 in total it was incredible, we loved every part of it and left with a lovely feeling of our custom being rewarded, we mentioned it was our first time and they apologised with it being a Saturday and not the usual service but to us it was faultless! This place is honestly one of the best restaurants in the area by a mile! Very reasonably priced, great service, perfect food. Don't miss it! A small walk round the corner from the crowne plaza, if you're staying in Nottingham you need to go here! Review! : Small note, the restaurant inside has a few stairs, which is a shame accessibility wise but I'm sure they will accommodate wherever they can."

"We went for lunch and were greeted at the door. We were sat rather quickly which I can imagine wouldn’t happen to everyone as it is rather small inside. We were sat in the middle and found ourselves being nearly bumped into quite often by customers and staff passing by. Not the best seat in the house. We were sat for quite some time we began to wonder if we were supposed to get up and go to the counter when we realised that there was only one member of staff taking orders and several doing… something else? There seemed to be no system in order taking as several people who were sat after us were served first and it wasn’t like we were tucked away in a corner out of sight they had to pass us to do it. When someone finally took our order I wouldn’t say they were overly polite it felt rushed and awkward. We ordered pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and added sausage and the salted caramel and honeycomb pancakes and some water. The water never arrived. When the food was brought out I raised the water issue and discovered the fridge was right next to us so it could’ve been done straight away with no hassle they just didn’t for whatever reason. The food was okay there were little things that added up to it not being perfect for me. Everything was just slightly under done which lead me to leave half of the sausage because there was a slight pink centre (I wasn’t sure if it was gristle or not as it was really small so I did not raise it). Honestly I didn’t feel there was any real service, there were no pleasantries or check ins which I know some people like but for me, it lacked any form of personality. I’ve read that people found the place rude and I wouldn’t say it was that bad but it definitely wasn’t super welcoming. The food was okay and looked great but not sure if I’d return."
