"Looked nice at first, cosy decor. Wanted to sit inside away from cigarette smoke but was really humid, they had a ceiling fan but wasn’t on. As usual in the Costa del Sol, no choice at all for vegans and I can’t eat dairy so had to pick spaghetti with clams and pick the clams out. Wasn’t sure if this would even be edible so also ordered tricolore salad so I could at least eat the avocado. Service was quite slow but when it came salad looked well presented but was obviously not what I ordered as was full of chicken. Advised waitress I’d been given wrong order. She kept arguing that I’d ordered a chicken Caesar salad (why would I? informed her I didn’t order it as I don’t eat meat so she took it away then brought it back minus chicken. I can’t eat Parmesan and didn’t fancy munching lettuce alone so told her again and again I didn’t order it. She showed me she’d written it down so informed her I wasn’t paying for it so she said “fine no salad” and was rude thereafter. My spaghetti tasted fine but all night after I felt nauseous and had an upset stomach. My companion’s breaded chicken was so dry she couldn’t get her knife through it (no sauce, bone dry . When given the bill the waitress brought the salad up AGAIN and said my UK accent was difficult to understand and next time to talk louder (even though I’d pointed to the tricolore salad on the menu when ordering . Then said this is why she wouldn’t charge us this time. I’d already told her I wasn’t going to pay! Shame as I liked the area of this venue, away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. I would never return."

"Well, we went here as a scouting party to see if La Sala could be a great New Year venue for us and a group of friends. The far from ideal views of one of the roundabouts of Nueva Andalucia can possibly be forgiven, as New Years is celebrated at night, and the party in itself was to be the focus of attention. The lack of parking space is an issue for those not taking a taxi or within walking distance of the restaurant. We were greeted at the door by a hostess and led to a table, where we (after some effort) could barely squeeze in. You are literally sitting back to back with other guests as the tables and chairs here are packed as tight as possible. It actually reminded me of Ryanair. There is absolutely no possibility of carrying on a private conversation here, as the next table is practically on top of you. To remedy this, they had much too loud trashy Christmas music blaring out over the whole terrace. We ordered fried shrimp for starters, these were slightly overdone, but what called my attention was the price, 22 € for 4 shrimps. One would expect perfection at that price. Shrimps were followed by a Thai green curry, nothing special and here the rice was undercooked (some grains still hard). My second glass of wine was whisked away before I had finished it (strangely enough not my wife’s, only mine), and the behaviour of one the young girls attending us was worth writing a separate letter to management about. Perhaps she had earlier worked at Ryanair. Needless to say, we did not book for New Year, nor will I be going back to this mediocre venue anytime soon. When we headed out, a grim looking bouncer had taken the place at the door, which speaks in itself I suppose for what can be expected here of the rest of the night. There was absolutely nothing attractive about La Sala. Marbella is practically brimming with much better alternatives."
