"good food, friendly service, good value. Four of us arrived for a quick lunch before the Kelso races. I had a pastrami bloomer (sandwich). others had a big suppe, tipper pate (lots of it) and black pudding, all served immediately. the young had a nice pint of bright ale. make sure to select from all three menus. pizzas and desserts are in the drink menu. very confusing! we were surprised and disappointed to discover that face masks in Scotland are still mandatory."

"Bought a bargain David Austin rose great. However we went in the restaurant and one of our party wanted a sausage roll that were piled up on the serving hatch. After queuing we were told we couldn't buy a sausage roll for 10mins. It took about 5 mins to get our two scones and 3 coffees and pay to be told again it would be another 10 mins to buy a sausage roll! Why? Ridiculous. I have emailed as per the reply and received an answer saying this will not happen again. Also a good will gesture this is how issues should be dealt with well done"

"A really welcoming place, with 2 tables outside and plenty of space inside. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and great with the kids. Tasty soup and falafel burger, good standard of coffee, excellent cakes. A lovely selection of locally made and ethical gifts for sale, as well as eco, plastic free groceries. Great for kids plenty of highchairs, space and understanding staff"

"Food was overpriced, the bland continental option was limited, and the cooked breakfast portion was disappointing. Service whilst friendly was slow. The room looked nice, but you do start noticing things haven't been cleaned properly. There are lots of cobwebs, tired carpets, and dubious stains on the bedside cupboard. The hotel has potential but feels like it needs some good investment. The grounds going down to the river look lovely. Probably not suitable for people who have issues with steps or stairs."

"A very good authentic Indian cuisine experience. Superb attention from the owners and staff. Helpful recommendations of their selection of food and drinks. Fresh tasty food came quickly, didn't feel rushed, great service. Plentiful portions, with plenty of flavour. This is an unlicensed restaurant, but don't fear as there is a coop locally near by with a large selection of drinks. Overall prices were about right for the meal, however the charge for corkage per person seemed excess. We would definitely return."

"I ordered my food an hour in advance, but still had to wait an additional 20 minutes when I arrived. The staff was neither apologetic nor friendly during the wait. To make matters worse, my order was incorrect. I noticed that every customer who walked in was told they'd only have to wait 5 minutes for their food, but it was clear they were significantly behind. They should have been honest and upfront about the delays. Overall, the service was lacking. Meal type: Dinner, Takeout."
