"We went here on 3 September. If my review was only about the food, I 'd give five stars, as it was excellent value for money at £25 for five small courses on the 'total trust ' menu. It 's certainly worth that price and more. My only criticism concerning the food was the lack of variety. I know the whole point is to put 'total trust ' in the chef, but three fish courses was a little excessive. This didn 't bother me as I love fish, but my mum, who I was dining with, was a little disappointed. The service had a lot of glitches. We really couldn 't understand the man who was serving us, but that 's nobody 's fault, of course, and we would never be critical just for that, but there were other problems. I got given the wrong wine to start, but it was perfectly pleasant, so I didn 't say anything, thinking that it was just a one off error. We then ordered bread and butter when he came over to the table it never came for 20 minutes, during which time other people had ordered the same thing with other waiters after us and got it. He clearly hadn 't put the order in and we had to chase it up. I was asked if I wanted 'cheese or dessert for my final course ' and I picked cheese he had to come over and tell me that it wasn 't available on the menu and that he made a mistake, which is fine, but it was then made clear that I would have gotten both and that the cheese was just an additional course, which wasn 't made clear originally. I also ordered a double espresso to finish my meal, but when it came it was a single. I mentioned this to another woman passing who rectified the situation. My mum thought she overhead the waiter saying 'he said a single, not a double ', but I can verify this, however I can say that I definitely didn 't say that. The man who made all the mistakes said that the espresso was on the house, but, somewhat predictably at this point, it was added to our bill. We enjoyed the aspect of guessing what ingredients were in each dish and being told by the waiter how much of it we got right or wrong. The waiter said we got everything right on one of the courses but then also said the table next to us got everything right on the same course, despite having two different answers. It seems a shame to come up with an interactive and novel concept only to have one waiter who appeared not bothered enough to actually look at our answers properly. We might go back as the other waiting staff seemed excellent and the food was very good, but we 'll not be in any rush..."

"I attend this pub a minimum of once a month with my father to catch up and enjoy a few drinks and atmosphere. Been doing this since the place opened. Will not be going back after today due to the poor Qaulity door staff and policy 's being made up on the fly. I booked a table one week in advance as I usually do and when I arrived as I went to walk in a young man maybe 18 stood in front of me and told me to not dare walk past him he had in plain cloths and nothing identifying him as a doorman such as an sia badge(turned out had it on his waiste under his coat deliberately obscured) he efused me entry as I had on jogging bottoms. I was told by the doorman this is a breach of the dress code/uniform policy. When I queried this policy as I 've been coming to this pub regularly for 10 years his response was he was denying me entry as 99% of fights he breaks up where people with jogging bottoms on. . While I 'm standing there two customer came outside for a smoke one with joggers on and another with shorts he then refused the customer who was already in admittance back on to the premises but let the shorts back in. When that customer asked to go back in and get his jacket and a refund he was refused, it took his partner to come out to get his stuff. I asked to speak to the manager as I had booked a table and ordered drinks which where at the table as my father had arrived before me, he said I was not entitled to a refund on site and would need to contact them via email. I then asked to speak with the manager and he responded with no. I had.to phone my father who was already within the premises(with jogging bottoms I might add) and ask him to grab the manager who eventually came out, I asked where the dress code was stated and she could not direct me to anything but she had made the decision on the day and that 's it even though the majority of customers inside already where weathering joggers. I got so frustrated by this interaction I started recording for evidence and the door mane then told me that unless I stopped recording my father would not be getting a refund for the table/beer he had purchased for my arrival. While I complelty understand some premises have dress codes they should be clearly marked online and not be changing day to day let alone during a day after people are already in the pub. The manager refused to provide any kind of complaint details aswell. Cannot believe after so many years of attending this place to be met with this, the doorman was needlessly confrontational from the get go and just making stuff up on the spot."

"We visited here for breakfast on my husband 's birthday. Overall it was nice food but ultimately overpriced and small portions with OTT service in the wrong ways We were seated in quite an awkwardly placed table for a family with 2 infants in highchairs, right in a central area where i felt like I was constantly getting squished against and plates and hot drinks too close to my children upon serving to other tables. There was a table next to us at the window which would have been better placed so the kids were out the way. Sercice was odd, all really friend, some server 's a bit more amateurish than others. We were asked 3 or 4 times if our drink order had been taken and again about specials, including after we gave our order the waiter told us the specials again weirdly. They forgot my irn bru I had ordered but I just left it as my tea was enough. They never proceeded to ask if we needed anything else once our meal arrived either. We had a full breakfast and the waffles. My breakfast was nice but could have had a bit more for the price but good quality ingredients. My husband 's waffles, or 'waffle ' should I say was veryyy small. He actually thought they forgot the waffles upon them serving it but found said waffle under the bacon. He was ultimately still hungry as he expected at least 2 waffles to be included given it says waffles. They accidentally charged us for my tea as it was included in the breakfast and we were also both charged 95p for oat milk which is the most I 've ever been charged, usually it 's 50p max. Ultimately we won 't be back which is a shame as it was a lovely restaurant with nice food but the service was awkward, expensive £28 for breakfast for 2 was pricey considering my husband was still hungry afterwards that he stopped to get a roll."
