"Booked for 2 nights and 2 meals. upon arrival the owner/landlord Dan showed us up to our room personally why doesn 't everyone do this??? we told him or was our wedding anniversary and could we choose our table for our 2nd evenings meal. this was done and ir wasn 't a problem. OK, 1st night, we ordered and had a huge portion of grub each! it was delicious! ans served promptly etc. I 'd rather have too much than too little wouldn 't you? A lovely, comfy night sleep followed. Breakfast still a bit full, we just asked for sausage and bacon toasties utterly delicious and plentiful!!! Now, scroll forward to the evening of our wedding anniversary. Dan points out the specials board. The Sea bass which the Mrs wanted had sold out. I said so and she was a bit disappointed. Several minutes later Dan came over and said couldn 't help buy overhear youbwere disappointed that sea bass special has sold out. Chef tells me we do have 2 fillets left but his chilli sauce that he makes has run out the chilli sauce was the bit we didn 't really care about so Dan said if you dont mind missing out on the sauce you can have extra prawns, we know it 's your wedding g anniversary so chef would like to give you what you want but it 's not as per the menu completley my Mrs was thrilled as she wanted the fish anyway but could happily miss out on the chilli sauce with the potatoes and veg etc. This was a lovely touch from Dan, the chef and the team. Much appreciated . Why don 't other places do this and be some accommodating?? A fabulous breakfast followed on day two and we will stro gly recommend the Old Hall Inn and will return. Superb service."

"I had heard much about this place, so I was rather excited to try. Nice village. Nice building. Nice decor. That is where it ends. 13 of us diners club) arrived on time with pre-orders. So, they should have got it right. Food was staggered and slow. My king prawn starter was, I have to say, delicious, but tiny, for £11:00 I expected more. My friend who writes cook books btw) said it was the first time she had ever had to put salt on an Onion Bhaji. Bland, tasteless, burnt. Ripples of similar disappointment across the table. My main was simply average. Again, small portions. No knives and forks to eat with. We had to ask. As we did for drinks. And napkins. And sauces. Staff had to be asked to take away empty glasses and bowls that were filling the table. Again, food was staggered, with a couple waiting almost 15 mins longer for food, despite pre-orders. My chicken was tough and tasteless. Another friend had lamb, which he said “took some chewing”. Now the disappointment. Despite my main being over £20.00, I was charged £3.50 for a tiny dry chapati to accompany. To add insult to injury, I had a pint of soda water , from the pump not bottled), in fact I had 2. For which I was charged £8:00. For 2 glasses of water!!! I queried this. The response I got was to simply have the card machine pushed in my face with “ Please pay now”. I say that it was 2 glasses of water, basically. To which I got “ please pay now” with the card machine almost touching my nose. My fellow guests queried this. To which the response was …. Nothing. So, a small starter, a small and rather bland, luke warm, basic curry with a dry chapati and 2 glasses of water cost me £43.00. Be prepared for average food. Rude staff and being fleeced. I eat out 2-3 times per week. I am always happy to buy and enjoy whatever I fancy. I always tip. But not this time. Disappointed to say the least. I won’t be returning, as will a few of my friends who were equally as disappointed. I would avoid this place. There are many beautiful eating places all around this area. This is not one of them."
